3D Pipe Surface from Point Cloud

I have generated a point cloud through ReCap of a Eccentric Reducer.

Idea is to convert this into a Surface and a 3D block.

Could not create an appropriate Surface in Civil 3D.

Looked at possibilities in 3D Modelling workspace. Did not find any.

Anybody has some good workflow for this?

Hi @Muthya

The surface that can be generated in Civil 3D based a Point Cloud is a TIN Surface, that is a representation of a continuous surface consisting entirely of triangular facets (a triangle mesh), but it is a plane surface and cannot have overlaps (e.g. multiple points with the same (or smiliar) X,Y axis values but different Z.

The workflow you're trying to follow is not sufficient for that type of work.

However, you can import your FBX file into 3Ds Max and export it to DWG as a Mesh object. Please see:

Sample DWG file for references attached.

Thanks,
Wojtek
