Pipe Properties - Part Builder Parameters

Hello All

Some of the designs we do for gravity sewer and storm infrastructure are to alleviate flooding or move flows to storage when the flows become to great and have risk of flooding. It has been requested to add the status of the pipe on the structure label (i.e. PartName, Connected Pipe IL, Status), it is so they can quickly understand how many existing pipes got a Manhole and What is New, Existing, or to be Abbandonned.

So in Part Builder I have the parameter, set to a list where the use can select the status of the pipe. However, the parameter "Status" does not show in the pipe properties dialogue in Civil 3D.

Does anyone have any advice on being able to pull this parameter into the dialogue?

I've attached the images here from Part Builder, as you can see the parts are in there and indexed. But when creating the part in C3D again they come in fine. But C3D does not allow me to draw the pipe, in the parts list they are all there, I have a feeling it is something to do with mapping the parameter.

Thank you for your message, I have made some headway based off the info from the 6722037 link. Is the shared parameters file the "AeccPartParamCfg.xml" File? Located in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D 2024\enu\Pipes Catalog\Aecc Shared Content folder?

So where I'm at I have updated the AeccPartParamCfg.xml & Ridgisewer Twinwall.xml (Part xml file), redone the parts library file, restarted etc. However, I can now draw the pipe, but the "Status" Parameter does not show in the Part Properties Dialogue or in the Parameter List when trying to pull the data into the Label.

Any help to do the final piece would be much appreciated.

By the way I'm using C3D 2024 & C3D 2023.2

Update, finally managed it, I had already Updated the Shared Params XML file, however there was two sections in the file that needed updating this link explains Autodesk Civil 3D Help | To Edit Pipe Network Parts Lists | Autodesk

The only other problem I have now is trying to pull the newly created parameter (which is a string) into a label. Unfortunately I have been unable to find the parameter in the list, or create it from an expression. Any ideas?

Sorry my language is not good

If you can filter the pipes According to any classification

Can I add the Status to the pipe description?

Then show it in label

Thank you @hosneyalaa, but I think you have miss interpreted what is being done. The thread is about creating custom parameters and pulling that through into the pipe properties. To add a status as a description, is limiting as you can not use the description for anything else. Personally I use the description for specific instruction or components.

I have managed to complete this now, apart from pulling the same information through on the connected pipes list. I will open this query as a different thread, this thread is now resolved 😀
