Can't Add New Design

Hi Experts!

I want to add new design at Autodesk CFD. For first design I add 'Simple' Building Design and it works well until the result.

But.. when I want to add another  'More Complex' Building Design, CFD always Not Responding, only black screen (hang).

I already tried with more than 2 design files, but it still can't work even I wait the loading more than 30 minutes.

All design files is from Autodesk Revit file that I converted into .SAT file.

-My Laptop Spec: Dell CPU E3 1505M v6-  @ 3 GHz (8CPUs) with RAM 16 GB | Windows 10 - 64Bit. total memory capacity: 256 GB

So, how could I resolve this?

Is the problem come from the PC or the Design.

Thank you

Is it because the .SAT files is too large?

so that I can't imported it into Autodesk CFD

actually, for the design which can't be run in CFD has size more than 40MB.

So, how I resolve this, especially when we want to simulate high rise building.

Hi @chyntia.oktavia ,

Either the .sat file is not 'cfd-ready' eg. contains way too many details, either it is ready for cfd. Can you share the .sat file that raised the issue? I can take a look and tell you.

As a workaround, can you create a brand new cfd study file with the new sat file within another folder. If that works, then the Add Design option is likely causing the problem and not the .sat file

Hi @Anonymous

Thank you for your respond & help !

I just tried again and It Works...

Actually the bigger file size already can be imported to be setup.

But firstly I must import the file at "Model Diagnostic" and then click "transfer to setup" and it needs no long time.

and If I directly setup the design via "Create" the CFD will display "not responding / black screen" very long time.

So I think, I must checking the file/design through "Model Diagnostic" firstly and Setup then, isn't it ?

anyway I also attached the sample.

Thank you

What is the version of the software and its default language?

Normally, from cfd software UI, Create New>browse .sat>load should be working just fine.

I can try on my side if you share me the .sat file

Hi @chyntia.oktavia

I've been occupied with my work lately, I just opened the .sat file. With no doubts, the geometry is not ready for import into CFD. This is why it raises an error. There are too many details here that are useless for CFD, and moreover, impossible to mesh.

As an example of a CFD ready geometry, you can find attached a typical example of an indoor ventilation simulation. To improve your workflow, I suggest to learn how to simplify a model. The user guide and the tutorials is a good start. Tutorials geometry should be located here

PS: I was asking for the CFD software version and its user interface language but it doesn't matter anymore, the problem comes from the geometry
