FYP.pngHey

I know its CFD platform but I thought someone here might help me about my problem

I'm working on Ansys fluent(space claim) finding flow characteristics over different types of weirs under specific conditions

I'm having a little trouble in finding the depth and velocity of water at any certain point I want.

if anyone know or have a slight clue of how can I find out the depth of water and velocity of water at any specific point of my liking, please help me out.

Thanks

To know the depth of water at a specific point, you need to be able to reference the water surface, which is free surface applications is variable.  You can do it manually by probing your point of interest and then probing up vertically until you hit the water-air interace (in Autodesk CFD, the air is actually a vacuum).

A better approach may be to use an XY plot.  In Fluent post, insert a sampling line which is vertical and goes through your point of interst.  You can then use that line as the source for an XY chart that plots out the water volume fraction.  You can then visualize the chart or export the datat to Excel and use some math to subtract the distance of the point of interest from that at the surface.
