OCR linking between subfolders

Is it possible to create a sub-folder for architectural, structural, mechanical, etc. and still have the architectural drawings be linked to the structural?

Hello @Anonymous,

I do not believe the workflow you are describing is supported in Docs at this time. There is a specific workflow in place for uploading linked files which does not allow the user to specify multiple/alternate destinations for files that are linked to a parent (host) file. This would be a great suggestion for you to post to our BIM 360 Ideas as a desired feature/capability.

The recommended workflow to upload linked files to Docs can be found here.

Not completely, it is still hard to properly organize files without the use of sub-folders. Thank you for your response tho.

I have no issue creating a sub-folder within the plans tab. However, once sheets are placed into their respective sub-folders they no longer link to other sheets found in separate sub-folders within the plans tab.

It would be nice if we could run a hyperlinking function after we have our folder structures set up and allow the OCR / Hyperlinking function to look at multiple subfolders at the same time. Even into the Project Files section to hyperlink all our our drawings together regardless of subfolder. In addition it would also be nice if the OCR capability also looked at markups as well. If the markup says RFI-01 go ahead and hyperlink to that document. These types of features really enhance the usability of docs.

The problem is that we are limited by having to upload all of the documents in a single folder in order to get them to hyperlink together. Many time project teams use folders to separate disciplines and sometimes drawings reference other drawings that exist within different disciplines/folders. Using docs it does not automate the linking between different disciplines if they exist in different folders.
