BIM 360 very slow

Hi, we have been working on BIM360 for the past 2 months, it is very, very slow. In terms of navigating the folders/menus, uploading/downloading, model viewing and interrogation.

Our Internet connection is reasonable at 70 Mbps and we are getting 17 KBs download speeds from BIM360, for example. This has been going on for a while now, I was thinking it was just internet bandwidth or something, but it hasn't got any better over time.

Same for me

My money says it is from bouncing through 3,4,5 different server locations

HOST, USER, CLOUD, etc.

Example - An ARCH firm is the hub host and an MEP firm is using their portal

ARCH servers, Autodesk servers, Cloud data center servers, MEP firm servers, and anyone else along the way

ALL equals lag time

I find BIM360 to be slow as well, there is no consistency in speed and it goes in waves. I am on a fiber connection with download speed of around 90mbps but I get 500kb download speed.

After the "upgrade" over the past weekend, BIM 360 has been worse; far, far worse (if that were possible).

It took each of our team members nearly 45 mins to open their files this morning. Saves take around 10 - 15 minutes to complete. With a team of a mere 8 people this is simply untenable.

BIIM360 costs a fortune compared to most other cloud services; and the performance is simply dreadful. As I type here I'm downloading a file for offline archiving at a massive 640kbps. Thats kilo-bits, not even bytes! Running speedtest.net on our link gives me 99Mbps up and down, our firewall is set to whitelist every DNS Autodesk has ever said to whitelist, or AV is set not to scan anything Revit related - yet the download performance is still horrid.

See the image below for proof of the laughable download speed offered by BIM360 - it's the only thing running on my ethernet connection (1G as specced by Autodesk) and it's barely hitting 1Mbps. In abotu 30 mins it has downloaded a whopping 137MB of a 4.3GB file.

This is seriously WASTING OUR TIME - both because the process itself is slow, and I have to take the time to write posts like this in the hope of getting a response.

Abysmally bad download speedAbysmally bad download speed

After the update, BIM360 speed has dramatically increased for me. Blistering speeds, actually impressed. Sorry to hear you guys are not getting the same!

Download speeds are also massively increased, at least 60Mbps.

It has taken me 36 minutes to open a 500MB file this morning.

Maybe they've fixed it for North America, but down here in Australia they seem to be using the postal service to get files to us.

I see your fancy 500kbps and raise (lower?) you 123kbps. Yes, 1990's dial up. A moment ago it dropped to 40kbps.
We're in the little known hamlet of Sydney, NSW. Wynyard in fact - about as CBD as you can get. If anyone gets decent internet speed it should be us! And we do - usually around 99-100Mbps up and down.

Me too.  I have a very fast connection.  I was on a 2.4ghz connection and I was getting 30-70 kbs....  I went to 5ghz and now I'm at 350 kbs average.  This is not very efficient AT ALL.

So we have been finding that BIM360 can get very slow at times our group and it jumps around to different users. All our data and models area located in one location and only shared within out organization. One thing I have learned with cloud systems is if you are experiencing slowness or latency it may be the server you are on. Closing out the project and revit and then opening aging will (to the best of my knowledge) put you on another server, therefore getting you off the one that was lagging. I just experienced a sync and save taking 30-45 minutes. I closed the project and revit; opened it back up then the sync and save took a minute.

Another Aussie chiming in to say this is honestly beyond ridiculous. I'm working in an office building right in Melbourne CBD, getting ~370Mbps up/down on speed tests and similar actual speeds on other sites, but downloading BIM360 models averages 200kbps, it's often at 60kbps for extended periods, and we've had as low as 3kbps.

Nowadays if I'm opening a large model I'll set it to open in the morning, go out for a coffee and breakfast and still get back in time before it's finished downloading.

still waiting for a file to open (I can say that all day everyday)...this platform is a joke.  I don't know who has this kind of time to kill!  AutoDesk stock price is going through the roof and all our productivity is dropping!

Been interfacing with AD for 30 years and they have never focused on a challenge our industry has put in front of them, unless it generates revenue.
