Title block attribute extraction when uploading Revit models

Title block attribute extraction when uploading Revit models

Hi,

I think that the OCR recognition works well for PDF documents and the title block informations are available in the user defined attributes make it handy to find the right sheets.

But what about uploading Revit models to BIM360Docs. All defined sheets of the REVIt model are generated out of the model, but the meta data of the title block is not available in BIM360Docs.

So I have to decide: Either to go for the connection between the derived sheets and the 3D model (a plus to upload Revit models) or to have my title block information available when uploading (multi-)sheets from PDF.

Please consider that also on uploading the Revit file directly, all title block attributes are extracted and are available in the user defined fields.

I agree with this, ultimately it would reduce workflows and increase functionality if users only needed to upload the Revit file without an accompanying PDF.  We have the ability to print to a PDF now from the Revit file that is posted to BIM 360, which was one of my main concerns with going straight Revit without PDF files, the other being this issue.

Please give this consideration as you should be able to pull from the parameters in the Revit File to fill in the attributes on BIM 360, such as Revision.

Thanks

I am with Autodesk Technical Support, and on behalf of one of my client's, we were discussing the same thing and we both agree that it would be beneficial to allow titleblocks on RVT uploads.

Scott.

Not surprised at this ridiculous oversight by Autodesk - promoting features with a broad brush, not worrying about the details . . . and when you get into the details you find that two marketing pitches are at odds.

In Autodesks view;

Does a user opt for the "true" BIM process, upload a Revit Model with interactive PDF's but forgo sheet names and numbers?

Or are the inventors of BIM actually suggesting to upload a static PDF to include sheet names and numbers ? Which is absolutely essential to the entire premise of Document Management.

Which is it?

How's the discussions going, we thinking BIM360 2030?
