Model Coordination Behaviour

Model Coordination Behaviour

1) Currently it is not possible to filter Issues in the Model Coordination>Clashes>Assigned tab which limits a lot functionality in this module (see Pic 1).

2) Loading Coordination Spaces after uploading updated models takes too long (very often require switching between coordination spaces if more than one or deactivate and activate again). Although processing automatically is great, would be good having a "Start Check" button to process a new automate clash detection (see Pic 2)

3) Options in Coordination Spaces in Model Coordination are currently very limited. Would be good to be able to chose particular folders/sub-folders or even specific models for each Coordination Space in lieu of having to choose a folder path which reads all the contents (which increments loading/checks time) or force you to configure your folder structure in a way which does not aligned with purposes needed in Document Management or CDE uses. (see Pic 3).

4) There is currently no way to identify or filter which Issues (as result from clashes in Model Coordination) have elements which are no longer clashing between them (after uploading updated models). It has to be checked one by one and the only way to understand is not clashing anymore is visualizing the elements are no longer in green/red graphics. (i.e. Navisworks identifies Resolved clashes in yellow when elements are no longer interfering).

5) BIM 360 have just been recently reading .nwc format files in Model Coordination with no notice in advance. This create several loading issues in coordination space plus increment loading times unnecessarily.

Just tagging along with the above and adding some further Wishlist items to improve the product.

  1. No capability to set permissions for individual views in Model Coordination, similar to Document Management. If anyone accidentally updates or deletes a view that they shouldn't be in, it could screw up clash data, both on the Design and GC side, whether you are clashing in Navisworks or on Bim360 itself. Since both Design and GC teams will be in the same Model Coordination space to track issues, it’s critical that we have the capability to limit access to certain models. For example, trade contractors shouldn’t have any reason to edit Design Team views. Currently, the only capability is to make a view public for ANYONE with access to the coordination space, or private so only the creator and project admins can view/edit.
  2. No capability to revert back to a previous version of a view in Model Coordination. Bim360 Glue had the capability to track version history and revert back to a previous version in case something had gone wrong, such as incorrect model content being uploaded, or if someone were to accidentally edit a view they weren’t supposed to. This was also helpful for documentation and to compare previous versions, which can help verify that trades have uploaded certain content on a certain date.
  3. View folder structure from Document Management not shown within the Model Coordination space. Since both Design and GC teams will be in the same Model coordination space, there will be dozens of models with similar names in this coordination space. The subfolders shown in Document Management do not show up within the Model Coordination space. This makes it difficult to find the correct models to select to create a view. Currently we have 97 models within the coordination space, and we should expect this number to increase.

Please implement number 3! We need greater control over which models are visible in a coordination space.   The option to select multiple folders would be a great addition.  This is especially important with DWG based products which require many models for a single project.

@usuario36 A lot of ideas and I'm happy to share that we updated the coordination space configuration experiencesPlease check out the new Coordination Space configuration experience which allows you to define a coordination space by folder and sub-folders. Models do not need to be mandatory copied into a specific coordination folder anymore.

Now you can define a coordination space from a 1-m selection of folders from  your project folder structure.

@jesse.wolfe5MVES Done!
