Docs - Description Edit (Create permission level)

Requirement: Enable the ability to edit the description field with "create" level permission in the Docs files section.

Problem to Address: Currently, in Docs, editing permissions are required to complete the description field of a document. This broad level of permission for such a simple task presents a risk, as it grants the user the ability to rename, delete, or modify folder structures. The description field is a supplementary value that allows the author to explain what information the file contains.

I agree this change is necessary. This action will allow the cloud platform to comply with the parameters of ISO 19650 and that the information is properly managed.

Support this Idea ! ACC should care more about the level of security and how to manage different levels of information to all kind of users.

This is a good idea, I hadn't realised members can not add a description or add other custom attribute information unless they had Edit permissions.

In november 2023 Autodesk launched a pack of updates for ACC. Please see the following article, when this feature can be controlled by this option:

Files | Allow Project Members to Edit Custom Attributes – In the advanced settings of the Files tool, project admins can now toggle on and off to allow members with upload permissions to edit custom attributes during the upload process. This feature ensures a level of standardization is maintained without losing control of the project.
