Create submittal logs using OCR from the Spec Book

To help streamline the submittal process, there should be the ability to automatically generate submittal logs leveraging Forge and OCR to read the Spec Book when you upload it to Docs. Like another company out there is doing right now... but instead of just getting out a dumb Excel file in the end it should automatically populate the submittals into the submittal section of the Project Management module to be packaged and sent to the subs for review then forwarded onto the appropriate approver... but that's just my two cents... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Is Autodesk going to rely on Pype.io for this functionality or develop it in house? Or buy Pype.io? Your primary competitor, Procore, does this out of the box and it's a huge time saver for project teams to dump a single spec book (or two volumes) in and have the software automatically OCR and break it out by section. These sections can then be referenced anywhere specs are used now in BIM360. The real power is rather than just having a drop down for reporting you can actually open up and read the spec section that a submittal is related to. It would also be incredibly powerful to be able to hyperlink submittals, issues, and RFIs to specific paragraphs in the specifications similar to other document mark ups. Related topic... vote for both!

Bump for @Anonymous , that's worth a lot more than two cents just in time saved Smiley Very Happy

Also, it would be ideal to do this at the Admin level to generate a standard base template and have the ability to fine tune a local copy when in Project Admin.
