Within the reviewer workflow, is it possible to include an optional reviewer.

Hello Autodesk,

The idea here is to differenciate between mandatory and optional reviewers.

In the current workflows we have on bim 36O, we define a total number of reviewers, with a mandatory number of reviews.

what we need is to specify optional reviewers whose reviews won't impact the workflow.

For an example :

- Total number of reviewers which are allowed to review the documents are 6,

           -  2 from the design office (1mandatory)

           - 2  from techninal office (1 mandatory)

           - 2 from Site team office ( optional)

In this example only 2 are mandatory, 1 person from design office, 1 from Techninal office. Site office can remain optional, the reviews number shall not count to finish the intial review, only the mandatory will count.

This will help us a lot in our process and will make the production of drawings easier.

Best regards,

Hello everyone,

This feature would be of great help as the current workflow definition process doesn't allow for any flexibility in the review process.

We often encounter situations when there is a document with several attachments sent for verification and approval via a pre-defined workflow that includes two mandatory reviews at the first stage and the final acceptance at the last stage. The problem is that at the first stage it frequently occurs that this documentation has to be consulted with different people and there is a functionality lacking to optionally ask another person for a review at the current stage. In this way, at the first stage of the process there would be two mandatory reviews made plus one or more optional that were requested by either of the mandatory reviewers.

At the moment workflow definition gives so little flexibility to adjust to company's procedures that it is virtually impossible to create a workflow that will be aligned with the contractor's, the engineer's and the client's expectations and internal standards regarding approval of the documents.

We tried to prescribe more people (two mandatory and several optional reviewers) at the first stage and set minimum number of reviewers required to two, hoping it would allow for more than two reviews at this stage (e.g. 3/2 - minimum number is met, right? ) but after, say, one mandatory and one optional review is made, the procedure automatically proceeds to the final review since 2/2 reviews were made (so it is rather "exact number of reviewers required" than "minimum number").

Our experience shows that there is an option missing between "every member must review" and "minimum number of reviewers required" and there is a huge need for it ! There should be a possibility to assign mandatory reviewers and optional ones and to create an option like "allow mandatory reviewers to request optional review".

If someone has a workaround solution to such problem, please share it in the comment.

@Anonymous  can you please let us know if such feature is going to be implemented and when can we expect this to happen ?

Best regards,
