We typically insist that Consultants upload a bound/purged .dwg (other platforms are available....) with uploads of GA drawings (PDF)
In the past, this has proven invaluable, ensuring there was no need for a separate "Dwg" folder, source files are immediately available for Sub-Contract and Quantity Surveyors, who frequently request, or insist on these during tender, and there is no uncertainty or need to establish the content of both dwg & pdf are the same where these are being used for take-off, overlay, co-ordination or similar.
While many of our Clients, Consultants and Sub-Co are capable of interrogating modelled information ,this is typically not the case currently. Having to obtain and manage separate .dwg files has proven frustrating for our team at this stage, and we can only see this increasing, or designers reverting to uncontrolled sharing of dwg files on alterative platforms (or e-mails !) - Please help us make this right
