We are developing our own API connection with Forge. However, after over 2 months of support with Autodesk, we've finally established that the only way to be able to have a safe testing environment for the development is to be a stand-alone license that can be associated to a new, separate Hub.
There should be a means to have a test environment that is not tied to our active hub, but which we don't have to pay additional and exhorbitant (i.e. non-reduced, single-seat purchases of the cloud service(2) ) prices to be able to connect things with the platform that I understand was created in order for us to connect things.
I realize this is more than policy and there is technological and programming challenges inherent in it. I also undersatnd if someone is developing an API add-in tool that they will market and make money - and those make sense for Autodesk to charge (well, a larger argument, at least). But for those of us just trying to make tools within our own ecosystem, this is ridiculous. Especially the lack of knowledge on how to do so which led us through a multi-month long process engaged with many people to figure it out.
