Admin Only permissions Level

Admin Only permissions Level

We occasionally give one person in our consultant's companies Admin right so they can manage their own team members. That help avoid the email chain of them needing to add a new team members and waiting until we get around to it.

The problem is that anyone with Admin right can also edit models.

That causes problem with them inadvertently editing or owning elements in our model.

I'd like to propose a new Permissions level where someone can manage their team but not have Edit permissions

BTW, just curious what the Tag Account Administration (HQ) means.

Why the (HQ)?

As the flip-side of this same coin, I work for the consultant MEP firm and am hardly ever given Project Admin panel access. So, I cant (1) schedule the publish feature or (2)add/delete Team members. Sometimes, I do get Folder level permissions on our MEP specific folder, but can only add team members--I can't assign a company or a role to that individual. So, it's messier. PLUS the team member doesn't get the "full" permissions until the actual Project Admin (Architect) checks all the boxes on the Admin Panel. We almost need a Consultant Admin permission and page, specific to that company/team and give that company's BIM Manager access to that. There's a mid-level of management that is missing from the B360 scenario.

We are finding that the host company's are beginning to not let other companies have Admin rights on projects on their hub. As mentioned above, this required email or chat groups to get access for new users. When dealing with timezones / people off sick or leave / urgent workload spikes etc we need the ability to have user added instantly not in 24 hours. Even though we have our own Hub admin who does not use Revit and can be trusted to add users and be trusted we are still getting told no. I have asked for this in the past (via AutoDesk Reps) but keep getting the same answer, no... so best to make some noise here too. It makes complete sence just for the company/team to have their own admins to add - remove users - and not administer the site/folder/permissions/teams/etc. At least the new ACC site allows you to see who is on the job already which is helpful compared to older BIM360 Docs where you were blind and sometimes request same people multiple times 😕

The second point that has been raised is a bit of a conundrum, I am not 100% sure if this is what you are referring to @dplumb_BWBR

'That causes problem with them inadvertently editing or owning elements in our model.'

Being MEP and working on an Architect BIM360 site there have been a number of occasions where I (and others in my team) have asked to stop going into their Arch model as we are locking items out. As you can understand we have not been opening the Arch model, just there has been a glitch in the BIM360 Matrix that seems to cause this. Only when users are admins, and only after a model consume. There have been various versions of this problem from MEP model not being able to open for the admin person only, to affecting all MEP users. It may be when an admin consumes the Arch model then downloads it to C drive... only for the purposes of figuring out how they have made their family so I can filter it, or check which linked view we need, which as-built models the arch has used to create their views (in some cases with lots of masking regions etc) or copy their keyplan... sneaky I know but necessary.
