Bifrost graph for bifrost liquids?

Hi all

Is there a way to use the Bifrost Graph for Bifrost Liquids?

 

And second question: Is there a way to do something similar to THIS in Bifrost? Without installing OpenVDB.

 

(I am trying to obtain a better Mashing: Bifost defaut one produces a very "blobby" mesh, even after using all the settings suggested in this article )

Hi,

 

No, the Bifrost Fluids on the FX menu set are based on an older version of Bifrost, and are not available in the graph.

 

Other than that, there are some MPM fluids nodes available but they are "experimental" at the moment. This means that you can play with them and give your feedback, but we don't think they are ready for production yet and they might change drastically in the future.

Let me start by saying am enjoying learning the bifrost graph...I totally appreciate the good job that the bifrost graph team is doing.

I tried the mpm fluids and it's very slow...I wish it was a bit fast ...like the speeds on the bifrost particles or something close.

I wanted to ask if there is a road map of bifrost graph... also was curious why the Bifrost Liquid is not yet Implemented in the graph ...according to the link below posted 6years ago ...it seems there was already a node like system been tested on the bifrost liquid.

I am probably being Captain Obvious, but it would make lot of sense to have
the liquid as part of the newer Bifrost Graph and allow a similar workflow
to the video. Especially now that SOUP is not free anymore (and
installing/compiling OpenVDB is a nightmare anyway)
If I understood correctly it's already part of the plan right? When can we
expect it? 🙂

Those was the "old" graph. Now everything is new. There are some important features missing. First we need a stable base.

Bifrost Liquid is also nodal, and the design is also low-level and complex. But unlike the current Bifrost, it can't be used.

Looks so cool..

 

Looking forward for the day bifrost liquid will be editable inside the graph...until then i will keep digging and learning the current stuff that is available in the graph.

Bifrost Liquids in Bifrost Graph is definitely something we want to get around to at some point, but not in the immediate future. Until then, you can use the read_bif_particles node to read in BifrostLiquids particles and manipulate them in the Bifrost Graph, e.g. convert them to a volume or a mesh.

This is great news, thanks! After importing the particles, what Bifrost
nodes could I use to replicate the workflow suggested in the original
YouTube video? The goal is obtaining a better mesh like in the video. 🙂

Although I don't know what I'm doing, the results are already better than the original meshing. Better if you want to animate slow liquids, chocolates and the like.

But the liquid node works inside or not? How to you get them inside graph?

No, it does not, you have to cache the data and then read it inside the graph to do some post-process, etc

I did this test, using legacy liquid bifrost inside bifrostgraph.
and then coloring the geometry of the liquid legacy.

When I did this test, I had to reorder the IDs.
But I don't know in the latest version there is a need to do this step.
