Revit Hints and Hacks: Is Your Warning Light ON?

Fixing Warnings in Revit is a good way to secure that you have a healthy Revit project to work in. The Warnings are found on the Manage tab.

When you open the Warnings dialog box expand the last in the list to see just how many warnings you have. Here are only 75 and a lot of repeating Elements have duplicate “Mark” values it appears.

When you expand one of the warnings you find the ID number for what is causing the warning.

The idea is to get that number and go to Select by ID on the Manage tab. Then you can put that number in to locate the offending entity.

Now you can write down that number on a piece of paper or just memorize it. That last one doesn’t really work for me; I can transpose too easily. You just must get that number to put in the Select Elements by ID dialog box.

Revit give me another option that helps me out. I would go to the dialog box less often if I just get a list of all the warnings.

I give you the Export… button. He is your friend.

Exporting gives you and HTML file that you can open in browser. There you can copy to paste the numbers.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you now!
