Raster Remove Isues

Hey there,  I am using AutoRaster 2018 on AutoCAD 2018 on a fresh install.  I have multiple documents (an 8 BIT TIFF uncompressed image) as a background xref'ed in.  On certain documents when I use the Raster, Remove, (let's say) Rectangular Region, sometimes it wipes out the information and places in a white background, sometimes a black background, sometimes a light grey background and sometimes a dark grey background.

I want to either remove the information (but I believe this can only be done in a bitonal file format), but would like to force the removed section to white.

How can I do this?

Hi @Anonymous,

From the description I understand that we have removed areas in images (not bitonal) and you like to change the color of the removed area.
As sample I took an grey scaled image, remove rectangle and set the black rectangle to white transparency. the red line is just to show that it is transparent.
Here is a short video: http://autode.sk/2BDGuoi
Please let me know if that answer your question.

Kind regards

I know this is an old post but since this is still an issue.  Here's my simple solution:

  1. Invert the image first using the Raster Design cleanup tool.
  2. Now use the Raster Design Remove command.
    • Note: I always use rectangle, but I'm assuming this would work with the others.
  3. Invert the image again and now it should be back to the original and the black box will be white along with the rest of the background in your image.

Note:  I only have ever gotten black boxes when I use the remove command.  I don't think this would work if you get a gray box.  In that case another work around would be to put in a White Solid Hatch and then use the Rater Edit tool Merge Vector and it will merge the hatch into the image.   Also none of these will make the background transparent, just white.

Another way is to open the Palette Manager (IPAL) and click on color 255 then click on Set Transparent and check the Background Transparency option in the lower left.

When using the Split Raster tool and selecting the Polygon Features split method to split a raster dataset in a feature class, the pixel depth and NoData value in the output raster are changed. For example, when inputting an 8 bit raster data in the Split Raster tool and using a polygon feature class containing grids to split the raster, the output raster has a pixel depth of 16 bit and the NoData value is changed to 256, 256, 256

Thanks!  The 'Invert' function worked perfectly for me.  Like the original poster, sometimes I get black boxes and sometimes I don't.  Haven't figured that out...
