We have a need to be able to work with non-Plant 3D AutoCAD drawings and Vault together using Plant.
With a license of Plant 3D (non-collection or suite) and Vault there is no way to add non-project AutoCAD drawings to Vault. The add-in doesn't allow check-in or check-out of standard AutoCAD files. Every other aspect of a standard AutoCAD file can be edited and worked with in Plant, using the Drafting and Annotation workspace, but there is no way to Vault them.
A separate purchase of AutoCAD to satisfy this restriction of the Plant 3D Vault Add-in is unfortunate; especially when the upgrade path from drawing P&ID's, etc. in AutoCAD, to drawing them in Plant, is a common path to follow. This leaves no easy way to get hundreds or thousands of legacy files in and out of Vault.
This would be an excellent addition to the Vault add-in for Plant 3D.
