@davidjonssonfvb; This request has been made Juli 2015. That's only 6 years ago mate.
This is Autodesk, we're talking about.. They need time
@hlammerts; Thanks for sharing, but to me it'd make more sense if this function were to be implemented within AutoCAD (or any of the Autodesk programs for that matter)
It's been a long time ... The integration with Revit is not yet developed and the gateway does not seem very smooth to me, going through a web interface to link the PIDs and the piping. This also does not assure us of an IFC export of Plant 3D files.
As a reminder, BIM is always defined in relation to building and civil engineering. The latest ISO 19650-1 to 4 standards are called : Organization and digitization of information about buildings and civil engineering works, including building information modelling (BIM).
The Process is not the priority of REVIT or other Civil software. PIM is not on the agenda (Process Information Modelling)
The integration of Plan 3D in Revit is always laborious due to the notion of piping networks in a building and the notion of piping lines and isometrics of Piping software.
We need Plant 3D to be BIM Level 2 compliant and be able to produce IFC and COBie for integrations with Enterprise Asset Management Systems like Maximo.
Export your Plant 3D model (.dwg) as a BXF file using our Plant 3D Exporter plugin.
The Exported BXF file contains all the design data information along with the model properties/metadata.
Import the BXF file inside Revit using the Revit Importer Plugin to obtain native Revit Projects (.rvt) and families (.rfa)
BIMDeX automatically categorizes the Plant 3D components such as Pipes, Pipe Fittings, Pipe Accessories, Equipments, Structural Elements, etc. which are mapped to their corresponding categories in Revit.
BIMDeX plugin also provides a lot of other customizable options for the user during Export & Import, to obtain the desirable output.
