There is a field in the "Structural Catalog.acat" for the linear weight. It is empty. Since Plant 3D 2015 the weight value in beams gets calculated correctly and is updating according to the length of the beam. The linear weight should be added to the "Structural Catalog.acat", then the calculation of the weight of the steelwork is possible without any further modification. It can then be reported, also the Center of Gravity calculation is possible. I know that I could do-it-myself using a SQLite editor, but I don't have all the data. When placing Pipe Supports using Dynamic Input, the locating dimensions are only referencing the pipe run itself and other pipe supports on the pipe run. We need to be able to locate pipe supports off of structural columns or at least off of the structural grid. 1. Add a method that will populate the Column ID Property of a Structural Member based on the Grid. So a Column that is placed on the Grid at the intersection of Axis B and Row 3 would get a Column ID of B-3. If two columns are in between Row 3 and 4 then they would be B-3.1 and B-3.2.   2. Allow the user to setup a Format for Column ID's: B-3 or B3 or whatever else they might require. 3. In an Ortho Drawing, allow the user to Dimension and Annotate the Grid automatically with the Row and Axis name.   4. This would allow for slicing complex structural members in an efficient manner. As of right now the only attempt would be to explode a 3D model and to attempt to slice it multiple times. In doing this, you lose the intelligence of the structural member within Plant 3D. When the object loses its intelligence, there wouldn't be a way to turn it back into a structural component within Plant 3D. When creating grating, the Hatch Scale no longer works. You set it to 64" and when the grating is created it is at a 5" scale and you have to fix it in the Properties palette. This use to work correctly but has not in 2016 or 2017 including 2017.1   Also, even though others have put this in the past it still has not been added, We need the ability to add a hole to grating and plate. You can do this in AutoCAD Architecture and AutoCAD MEP but not in Plant. Show More

When modifying steel beams , you often need to re-open the 'Edit structure ' dialog, certainly when selecting new reference points. An Apply function that shows a modification without having to close the dialog would speed up the design. Show More
