The Plant 3d Spec Editor has not been updated in the 10 years that I've been using it.   It needs a complete overhaul.    1) Catalog editor - Custom properties should be able to be added easily across component types and part categories. 2) In the Spec editor we should be able to search and filter by any data field in the component Catalogs, as well as customise and save our default search settings within the UI. (including all port data) 3) Ability to customise the fields in the Advanced Editing Table. (including all port data) 4) "Find in Catalog" button to Actually find in Catalog editor UI. 5) Ability to Split Spec and Catalog Editors on Different windows / screens. 6) Ability to split the Advanced Editing Table onto Different window / screen.    Regarding 1,2,3) The current UI restricts us to only 12 field columns.  Size Range Long Description (Family) Short Description Material Material Code End Type Facing Pressure Class Schedule Design Std Design Pressure Factor Manufacturer If we go to the trouble of adding "Flange Std" data to every valve or flange in our catalogs, when we want to add particular components to the spec we are unable search or filter by the "Flange Std" in the spec editor UI to differentiate them and bring them into the spec.  This simple limitation is forcing P3D administrators to put multiple fields of data into the 12 searchable fields above. OR if they see the fundamental problem with putting multiple data into single data fields, they may not bother to fill in the Flange Std data in the first place.    Either way, the end result is Plant 3d BIM data being either corrupted or lacking detail, simply because of the users requirement to work around the software's limitations and restrictions.  Whether Plant 3d users acknowledge this or not. I see an overhaul of the Spec Editor as fundamental and extremely important for the future of Plant 3d. Why?  Because the world is moving at light speed towards connected data. In order to connect data to other data it needs to... a) Exist b) Be consistent. c) Be Clean   If Autodesk keep preventing their customers from achieving these fundamental data requirements, simply because they don't want to spend any money improving something that hasn't been updated for more than 10 years,  I have no doubt Autocad Plant 3d Software will be overtaken by competition very soon.    Show More

Hi We miss the AutoCAD Architecture Objects on Orthographics DWG (AEC Objects). We create the Building for our Plant with AutoCAD Architecture and we do not like to convert to AutoCAD Objekts. It is a lot work and we get a second DWG File which we need to store. Regards Michael Show More

Hi   Integrate AutoCAD Architecture in the Project Manager from AutoCAD Plant 3d and let open AutoCAD Architecture direct from the Project Manger with double klick and open AutoCAD Architecture.    All our user work on AEC and Piping files on the same time. But to open Architecture files he need to share and open form Autodesk Docs an open on shared folder. This need time and is very inefficient....     If you would add open in desktop Application like Plant 3D, AutoCAD and Architecture direct on ACC would be also help and improve the speed.     Regards Michael Show More

We have created many components using python code and it would be great to have a parameter that makes them stretchable like a pipe. Currently, if we want to change the length of the component we need to update the length property inside of the properties palette. Instead, it would be great if we could simply use a stretch grip found at the end of the part. When using BIM with Plant 3D, instead of using SQLlite and using a checked out copy of the DCFs, the database should reside on the BIM website that can be connected to. That way you have much more functionality with other programs that use the data like Auxalia or database programs. Also the data is more streamline when the data is accessed by different users and there is less likely to be conflicts.  Show More

P3D PCF to Pipe functionality seems to be the only way at this moment to get in intellligent (rich data) 3D models from third parties like Cadworx, AutoPLANT, etc... Only, it has too much limitations at this moment. It does not recreate the supports, Tagnumbers on valves, incorrect Stubend lap joint assemblies, incorrect handling the Pipe bends, and some more.... It is important to create a more accurate 3d model with maximum intelligence from the third party application via the pcf file. This pcf file, in most cases is configurable to contain maximum information available.  This improvement will help to convince third party plant design users to use P3D in the future, having less rework, having higher and richer 3d models quality.  Rgds, RC Show More

I suggest the ability to create a VR Viewer for DWF and DWFX files, as an addition to Design Review (would be the best choice, could be a paid Pro version) or an additional product. The Idea of VR for these filetypes is not a "Bling Bling" VR with a lot of material and lightning stuff, it should be a quick and performant way to give the engineer the ability to walk in his creation, without having to import it to MAX etc., simple VR for engineers to check and visualize designs.   Features should be:   - quick in VR without any preparation - selectable views - measure inside VR - annotate in VR and save annotation in DWF - meta data of parts and assemblies displayable in VR   This could be a game changer on the market, anyone who can publish DWF would have the ability to easy use VR in the design process. Nearly any Autodesk Design Product can publish DWF, you would even be able to choose your DWF Preview from Vault and WALK IN, company wide. Show More

I am trying to create a Report for a Mixed Metric Project. This report is a COG Weight Report, to try a total of the separate weights in LB and KG and also a grand total of both. However, the report just adds(+) numbers regardless of unit. Is there a way to group the total of each (LB and KG)?  It would be great to have a sample of scripts. Cheers Show More

It would increase Autodesk Plant 3D sales and usage considerable if a Webinar or white paper could be produced by Autodesk on what data can be recuperated from AutoCAD derivatives (CadWorx, Autoplant, Esapro-3d-piping, ...) in Autodesk Plant 3D  (e.g. Equipment geometry, equipment attributes , Equipment nozzles attributes , Piping geometry , Piping attributes, Piping spec geometry, Piping spec attributes , structural geometry, structural Attributes,....) as this would de-risk switching Tools Downstream in the engineering process. Sometimes we are bidding for detail design where the concept or basic was done with AutoCAD derivatives and we could bid more aggressively if we had a better understanding of what data can be recuperated and what data has to be completely remodelled. This would then be directly reflected in an increased Plant 3D license sales of course.   What do others think?   Show More
