Working with .VUE files

Hi

I need to manage a plant3d project that already has smartplant files (.vue)

With Naviswork 2017, i can import .vue files and save them as .nwd for share and review. I can add the plant 3d models on this same naviswork file and then, the customer can review both models (the one from plant3d and the other from smartplant) combined in one single naviswork.

With naviswork 2018, the converter plugin is not supported (Smart Plant loader plugin).

But this is only for review, i need to work with them

And now, the question: ¿how can i open .vue files in plant3d?

I've tried to exporting from naviswork to .nwd, .nwf, .dwf, ,.dwfx. , and importing to Plant3d. I just get some solids or i get an error that plant3d doesn't recognize that file.

I don't have acess to SmartPlant software, so i can't export the original projet to another format. I just have  .vue, .xml, and .zvf files.

¿How do you manage smartplant files?

Regards

Short answer: you don't.  You *must* use the originating software if you want to work with those files as intelligent objects.

This should be reviewed and decided on before a project starts, as it determines what format the client is going to provide, what format they're getting as a deliverable, and ensures everyone is working from the same platform (and usually version as well).

Thanks for your reply.

I know this, and i don't need intelligent objects,it's enough if they are solids or surfaces.

The client is myself, and i just need the .vue files as a guide for routing the new pipe in plant3d.

I can get something if i import the .vue file to Naviswork 2017, save it as .nwd; and then import to plant3d. But only a few elements are visible, not all of them.

Regards

Give iConstruct's Smart DWG Exporter a try. It's an add-on for Navisworks.

Have you tried attaching the .nwd file as a coordination model?

Hi and thanks all.

1-  import the .vue files to naviswork, then export to .nwd

2- attach the .nwd to plant3d as a coordination model.

I can draw with snaps, it works.

@Anonymous, i'll give a try as soon as i get a demo, thanks

Thanks again and regards
