Hi,
This seems to be a fairly documented problem, but with no real solution?
When working with a custom UCS, plant decides to place fittings alligned to WCS.
So, a tee/elbow will send the piping model off on the wrong co-ordinates.
This is a huge problem and shifting the model back to WCS is not an option as there are other disciplines working on the model, using different software platforms.
I have scrolled through the relative posts and tried all suggested fixes, but had no success.
Toggling the DYNAMIC UCS settings had no affect.
Surely this has been addressed? We are running 2015 on SP2.
Hopefully someone can help?
Hello Peter,
I am also having the same issue with the UCS reverting to world when routing pipe.
I have the latest SP installed but still have the same issue.
Unfortunately I cannot upload a screencast, but a basic rundown of the steps to reproduce;
Hopefully the image appears correctly below, showing the issue.
I have the same issue. I've tried most of the posted solutions (i've tried every setting in the UCSMAN widow). Any help from AutoDESK here?
3 years later and this is still a problem! Why is it that Autodesk can't fix simple issues like this that really make our jobs difficult?
We can't have the UCS flipping around on us when we're trying to route pipe. It's documented and you're aware of the problem but nothing gets fixed year after year. Very disappointing...
I have come up with a very tentative, annoying, but practical solution. Say you're in plan view and your UCS works fine. Then when you click in a different view (FRONT, LEFT, ETC), the UCS sometimes switches to World (that's why we're all reading this forum). You'll know when this happens because you can't model pipe correctly and the UCS logo turns light grey.
As a solution try typing UCS enter then V enter. Annoying, but it works.

AutoCAD Plant 3D 2020.1 Update built on AutoCAD 2020.1.3 have the same issue.
I've tested this on 2019 just now, and the original problem that was reported has been fixed. I'm not able to duplicate the more recent workflows. If you can duplicate it, can you list steps that can be tested?
I have attached a screen capture video that shows the problem.
Thanks for the video. That helps a lot. I've been able to reproduce this on 2022 as well, so I've got a case in. I'd love to be able to see this thread closed with a fix, I'll make a note to follow back up at the next service pack or hotfix release and post an update.
Plant 3D 2021 still has this issue. Subscribing to this thread for a possible solution.
Was this patched? I have a large effort coming up that will require custom building coordinate systems to differ from the master plant coordinate system and all the scan data available.

Hi, i found the solution on this.
The problem is that UCSFOLLOW is turned on(1). Turn it off(0) and it should work.
