Reset Plant 3D 2017 to it's Default Settings

Hi Cadd Users Group-

I have an unusual problem. My Control Value symbols in Plant 3D/P&ID version 2017 are mysteriously shrinking. I put in a help ticket with autodesk support and sent them the actual file, and they were unable to determine the cause and recommended I reset my Cadd  Station back to the Default settings.

The problem I'm having now is finding the files structures that the Autodesk help site instructs me to delate. If you have any knowledge on resetting plant to the default settings, please advise.

Attached:

I have included my c: drive path and file folders. Please advise what folders I need to delete that will allow a reset to take place. I also added a picture of the problem I'm having in case you are having the same problem.

Dear @Mdelaney_Jr,

i think a reset of your user profile is not the solution.
We should first locate what your controlvalves have resized.
Can you upload a sample drawing with the Controlvalve?
Are product updates targeted before this error occurred?
Configuration changes made to the project?

Thanks for the quick response.

No updates that i know of, also, I did send the project file to Tech Support and they were unable to duplicate the same problem on their side which is why I believe they are asking for a reset on my side. Unfortunately I can't upload my project to a public forum, maybe if you send me your email, I can get permission to send a private link of the project for further review.  Currently all the valves have been fixed, however, they will at random change, which is why it's hard to isolate the problem.

Thanks, Hartmut,

I'll try to recreate the problem now. It usaully occurs after interacting with a process line over and over. I do have permission to send you a link if you have an email address I can forward you after I recreate this problem.

Just reset

There is nothing wrong with going back to default

In order to do so go to

C:\Users\###\AppData\Local\Autodesk         < delete or rename the folder Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D XXXX

C:\Users\###\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk   < delete or rename the folder Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D XXXX

Go into regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Autodesk / AutoCAD /

R version number depends on version of Plant 3D ( for 2016 it is R20.1)

Search for the folder entry that contains the plant 3D install folder ( for 2016 it is ACAD-F017:409)
Rename or delete

Now restart Plant 3D

If you are not experienced with this that do it with Caution you can screw up your system if doing wrong

If this was of any help please kudo and/or Accept as Solution
Kind Regards

Thanks, DGRL,

I will try this as well and let you know the outcome. I'm currently working on another solution offered first. But this information is always helpful and needful. Thanks

Hi Michael,

I have checked the case of you with my colleague. Also I have downloaded your project and have tried it there. It is not reproducible on my site, too, with your project. So, this means it is not a project specific thing but a more general.

I expect here, too, that the issue is resolved by resetting the user profile. See again this full article

Regards

Bernd

Hm, you are right. I will look for the reason of the broken link.

Meanwhile see the article here:

Thanks again for your response.

I tried this with a colleague and we were unsuccessful in finding the file structure for Plant 2017 that match these instructions. Someone earlier offered some additional instructions that I have yet to try, that will allow a reboot as well.  I have attached my file directory image. Maybe you can provide the path from this point. Thanks 1 Local Directory Path.jpg

DGRL-

Is it asking too much to take a screenshot of the directory path and screen video because my file structure appears to be different? Thanks

In your picture there is a folder called "Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D 2017". This is the first folder which you can delete/rename. This was for folder C:\Users\MDelaney\Appdata\Roaming\Autodesk\.

The second one is C:\Users\MDelaney\Appdata\Local\Autodesk\AutoCAD Plant 3D 2017

At the end you have to open registry via Start - Run - REGEDIT - Enter

Switch to the location, mentioned in the article and delete there the key

Note: The location of the registry key starts with HKEY_CURRENT_USER....!

Hope this helps
