Ortho viewcube grips missing

Just updated Autocad plant 3d 2020

Now when I try to create an ortho drawing the viewcube has no grips to stretch it

to the location I want the view to be from.

Can anyone please help me with this, I'm on a dead line for drawings.

I can't create any ortho's now.

Hi BCarroll,

I cannot reproduce this behavior on my site. Have you already installed Update 2020.01? If the issue still exists with this issue: I will send you a separate email with an introduction how to send me the zipped project. So, I can look for it.

Best regards

Bernd

I have opened the project in 2019 and everything is fine in 2019.

Tried the repair of 2020 and still not working.

My version is 2020.1 not 2020.01 as in your previous reply

I have opened the project on another workstation and it works fine.

I think a reinstall of Autocad P3D 2020 is needed  😞

Message 7 of 18

Before doing a re-install, try that first (in this order):

  1. Close Plant
  2. Open Windows Explorer and delete the content of the temp-folder. Enter %TEMP% into the title bar of Windows Explorer to get to the right place. Ignore those files and folders which cannot be deleted. They are currently in use.
  3. Reset your Plant user profile: http://knowledge.autodesk.com/article/How-to-reset-AutoCAD-Plant-3D-user-profile
  4. Repair it via control panel

If a re-install is still needed, then do a clean uninstall before. See this article.

Please, let us know about the outcome.

Best regards

Bernd

Same for me following the 2020.01 upgrade...

I have reinstalled Autocad plant3D 2020 but not updated to 2020.01.

All seems to be working fine now. I am reluctant to update to 2020.01

until I'm sure the problem is sorted.

Message 10 of 18

Hm, as mentioned before, I am not able to reproduce the behavior with the update installed. It might be caused by a corrupt installation. So, install the update and test then. Does this issue still happen. I don't think so. If yes, you can still uninstall it afterwards.

Got it. We have to differ between plain AutoCAD Update 2020.1 and Plant Update 2020.0.1. The issue is caused by the plain AutoCAD update 2020.1. So, currently the uninstall of this update will solve the issue.

The development team is already investigating here.

I was getting ready to re-install the whole mess.

Now, if you could identify why I can't save custom parts to spec catalog editor...

Are you still investigating?

Hi Chris,

please, can you start a new thread about your spec issue? Because this issue is completely about a different topic and a potential solution won't be found by other people when they are searching for it.

Thank you

Bernd

I was the one that commented about Spec challenge.
AND have started a post with the info.

With NO response.

I have installed Plant update 2020.1, hopefully it fixes.

has this issue been solved. I have Autocad Plant 3d 2020 and suddenly have no Ortho grips. It worked fine before so not sure what has happened.

I have learned to NEVER install plain Autocad updates even if the update manager suggests.

ONLY do the Plant updates.
