Master BOM for all ortho views

I couldn't find this particular topic.  Is there a way to have a master BOM available for an entire piping layout and use that same BOM bubble numbers and auto labeling for all ortho views?  And when I say all orthos, I mean different views on a single drawing and also multiple drawings.

For example, I pull a BOM from an overall plan view or piping (it has 50 items).  Then I have several other more detailed elevation views of the same piping.  When I generate a BOM for the detailed views, it only has like 15 items with different bubble numbers than the first overall plan view.  Anyway to carry the same numbering throughout?

Thanks.

If you put mulitple viewports on a single drawing, you will get consistent BOM mark numbers.

If you use "adjacent views" then yes, I agree.  However, if you have a different viewport that has a new ortho cube, they do not match (I'm guessing the cube controls it?).

I'm fairly new with Plant but if it is not possible to match bubble numbers from BOM's across drawings, how do others do it?  Manually?  This seems like a waste of a powerful auto-labeling function if you can only use one BOM on one view.

It would be nice if Plant assigned unique "identifiers" to each component in the model and then kept that identification throughout, no matter what view you pulled, so it was always consistant.

What I have done as a work around is to create one overall plan view in the layout outside of the plotting area. This way I have consistent bubble callouts for every drawing. Yes it's cumbersome and you should not have to do this in order to ensure bubble 1 always calls out the same pipe or bubble 10 calls out the same valve on every drawing but it's the only work around I have found. For larger projects I think I will have to create sub-projects in order for this system to work.

I have not been using Plant 3D on a regular basis for very long ...... I sure hope there is a better answer out there.

Yeah, I was hoping there was a better solution but it's looking like that may not be the case.  Maybe this is something that will improve in the future versions.

bwpkmp - Can you auto-bubble other views if you are using the BOM from the overall plan view?  I get what you are saying and I was going to do that but I don't see how to automatically pull the bubble numbers over to other views in the same drawing.

I am not sure what year this was changed in, but you can now change the view that you want to put the BOM annotation bubble in.  Once you have started to place the BOM annotation, you can enter V (changeView) and select a different viewport.
