Item type mismatch between P&ID and 3d

Hi All again,

 

i'm at the beginning with Plant so I am full of doubts. The problem is the items type mismatch. For example in the P&ID i have add a screw pump and i have assigned to it the tag P-1. In the 3D drawing i have insert a new horizontal pump and i have assigned the same tag, but the validate process give me the error that the pump in the P&ID is a screw pump and the pump in 3D is a Horizontal centrifugal pump. Same with a general vessel in P&ID and a tank (general) in 3D.

How i can manage this problem? For example how is it possible to give in the 3D the right class type to a pump (screw pump for example)? More in general how is it possible to give the right class type, related to P&ID, to the items in the 3D drawing?

Hello,

 

You will need to do some testing, but I believe you can map the class types in the project setup like this:

Hi again, with the method explained by @Anonymous , selecting all sub-types i haven't more the matching error, but if a select only screw pump and general remain the error (Photo1.jpg).

 

More in general, is it not possible to define in 3D which kind of pumps a custom pump is? If i put a default centrifugal pump under properties and Part Subtype i found "horizontalcentrifugalpump" and here i can choose the other kinds of pump, also screw pump.

If a create a custom pump with the default various shape (under create equipment) there isn't this option in properties and so the pump remain generic.

label.jpg => the properties label of a default pump.

Maybe i have founded the solution with custom equipment. Under Data Manager it is possible to choice the part subtype of the custom equipment and in this case for example assign the pump as a screw pump.

I have the exact same issue!  Below documents another workaround I made for it.  Both data manager and this trick with the properties palette will work.

 

My guess is honestly not enough people use validation for AutoDesk to know about this problem.

Issue: I don’t have a part subtype field

 

Here is a dummy piece of equipment from an example/testing project:

Notice how there’s no “Part Subtype” field – normally it would show just above Nozzles, like this:

However, when I select both pieces of equipment, I can change their Part Subtypes together:

The dummy piece of equipment now has a Part Subtype:

Which can be changed:

I’m still exploring what causes this issue, but it appears to be on some classes of custom equipment.
