Confused about Autocad with Plant 3d toolset and Autocad Plant 3D

Hi All,

What is the difference between Autocad with Plant 3d toolset and Autocad Plant 3d? Is Autocad stop releasing Plant 3d and it added with Autocad?

The toolset is a type name given for the separate software which is AutoCAD Plant 3D.

Both AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D are separate softwares, each with their own updates and functionalities. But the latter is called a toolset, because it is build upon the AutoCAD software, and it contains all the functionalities of a basic AutoCAD.

It is just a way to talk about this series of AutoCAD based software packages. Before being called toolsets they were often colloquially called 'verticals'. AutoCAD Plant 3D is not the only toolset, there are others (such as MAP 3D / Architectural / MEP / ...)

That is because the licensing model has changed. Since a few years you no longer buy licences for the toolsets seperately, instead you get a license for AutoCAD which will automatically include licenses for all toolsets including raster design. So if you have plant 3D it means with the same licence you can download, install and use map 3D, raster design, MEP, ...

Plant 3D you cannot buy separately anymore

If you need Plant 3D you have to Autocad with specialized toolsets which includes Plant 3d & other toolsets

You will have to install the ToolSet from your Autodesk account. Then is should add a Plant 3D desktop shortcut you can click on. Beyond those steps, we need to know what you have tried.

I tought it was inside Autocad, now i downloaded another exe file specifically for plant3d and installed it, thanks very much. Can you point to me some  useful tutorial in order to draw flux and p&id diagrams? also something to learn how to proper export the diagram in a clear png. (I tried the export to pdf, but the lines are huge and overall not a good export)

I haven't tried any online tutorials so Im not sure of any to recommend beyond trying what you find through an internet search.

Thank you very much. What about exporting to a pdf with the page dimension as an A3 sheet? sorry but i am struggling a little bit finding tutorials.

Play with the Plot command using the DWG To PDF.pc3 plotter and choose your sizes.

From there just try the buttons and settings to see how the react until you get what you are after.
