Annotate flip parameter

Hi,

I added a flip parameter to an annotation (e.g. Hand Valve annotation), to be able to chose wheter annotation is up or down according to p&id symbol.

Example annotation.JPG

This works perfect. But after I opened the project setup, this flip parameter flips back to it's base position.

Even without changing anything in the setup. If I save and reopen the drawing, everything flips also back to it's base position.

When I press undo until undo synchstyles, everything is back flips back as it should be.

How can I make sure these flips stay in there position?

Thanks!

Best Regards,

Siem

Hi Siem,

there are some limitations of the use of dynamic blocks in P&ID. In short: You shouldn't use them (there are some use out of the box, but don't add new block or add some triggers to the blocks). The behavior is exactly that which is described by you. For the classes you have defined a specific block in Project Setup. Depending on the systemvariable SYNCHSTYLESMODE the command SYNCHSTYLES will be executed which synchronizes the settings of your project setup to the drawing. By default this command will be executed when Synchronize open Ortho drawings when the project is modified or Synchronize open 3D Model drawings when the project is modified or Synchronize open P&ID drawings when the project is modified. In other words: Because your block definition is different than the block in the drawing, it will be synchronized back to the definition of the block saved in project setup. Of course, you can turn off the synchronization by setting the variable to 0 but I don't recommend to do that. I recommend to avoid these kind of dynamic blocks for P&ID drawing.

Hope this clarifies the issue.

Best regards

Dear Bernd,

We implemented the use of dynamic blocks because in some cases we have to change orientation of the annotation, facing up or down.

Is there another solution or workaround for this?

We can rotate the annotation manually, but then text is rotated also. Standing upside down.

Another problem exists when we attach this annotationlabel to an instrument class.

Orientation is set to Orthogonal, but when we place an instrument in a vertical line, the annotation is still facing down.

Thus overlaps with line and symbol. And not Ortogonal.

Thanks!

Set system variable MIRRTEXT to 0. If mirror now something with a text, the text stays in the direction as it is.

Hi Bernd,

Thanks! This indeed solves the problem of mirroring text.

But in our case we would like code or type above, and number below.

When rotating/mirroring the annotation, this is switched.
We had a dynamic flip to fix this, but this result in the same problem.

As solution, we removed the dynamic block and made use of the leaderfunction in annotation settings.

This results in some more manual handlings to move the annotation, but it never switches back.

Do you have a solution for the orthogonal placement that doesn't work with instruments?

Best Regards,

Siem
