Object Snap Tracking Not Working

Hi,

I'm using AutoCAD MEP 2017 on Windows 10 Pro. I'm trying to use object snap with snap tracking and ortho to align some tags. It worked previously where I could grab a grip and hover over a point that I wanted to align to and a dotted line would appear and I could click and my grip would be lined up with that point. That still works in some files but recently I made a bunch of sheet files and this function won't work in them. I have attached a video showing how it won't work. I've tried to compare various system variables but I can't find the difference between these files. I'd appreciate any help.

No, the UCS isn't rotated. I'm using WCS right now and I don't have the INT (intersection?) osnap on.

Hi @Ksustaire

What is your OSNAPCOORD system variable set to?

INT should help, try it: what other running osnaps do you have on?

By INT do you mean the intersection snap?

Hi @Ksustaire

If you change your OSNAPCOORD system variable to 1 does that seem to help at all?

@Tiana_Y, your suggestion to change OSNAPCOORD to 1 may have helped. I've been trying out polar instead of ortho and now it only doesn't work sometimes. I think it's something with my computer or settings because I opened the same file on a coworker's computer and it worked fine. Guess I'll leave it there and limp along until I get a new computer.

Thanks

I know this is probably silly...But I came across this:

This should apply to AutoCAD 2015 but you may want to try this if you are using another version with similar issues. When you use the Object Snap Tracking function it does not respect the Tracking Mark offset. You move the cursor over (as an example) an End Point and generate the Track Mark. Then you move away in (as an example) a horizontal direction. You type in a distance and enter and it does not track away from the marked point it ends up in an odd location.

How to Correct the issue:

This is a known issue that is being caused by the command line not being docked. Dock the command line and try again this should resolve the issue.

Go to Object snap settings > Options. Then see if "Marker", "Magnet" and "Display Autosnap tooltip" box are checked.

Check the attached picture for reference.

Thanks for your reply. I had forgotten about this issue and it suddenly started when it had been working perfectly for months on my current project. I had undocked my command line and re-docking it fixed it immediately. I really appreciate your input.

Thank You!  osnapcoord=1 fixed the problem I have been having for a month!  Nobody had a fix all over the internet.

Just something I noticed whilst having same issue. I had "Shift to Acquire" selected on alignment point acquisition causing similar problem (unless using shift to lock tracking target)

options>drafting>alignment point acquisition

@Anonymous  THANK YOU!!!  I got a new laptop about 3-4 months ago and it had newer ACAD on it.  I've gotten most of the kinks of switching over worked out but that one was driving me crazy.  Have a good one!
