model scale and dimensions scale

I am new to using the Mechanical version. I have had classes on AutoCad, but I am still a beginner.

I'm having issues with the model scale messing with my dimension scaling. I'm working the the model view, not layout. some of my prints are of smaller parts ( 6"x6") and some are of building frame work (25'x100').

If i set the model scale to 1:1 my dimensions are very small and do not respond to the dimscale command or the dimension style manager setting. After the dimension is made i can go in and edit it to a correct scale.

If i set the model scale different (1:24), my dimensions will come out like i want to but every other scaling is messed up. line type scale and the scale area command.

How can i leave my model scale at 1:1 and get my dimensions to the size i want?

Post a DWG file with the problem, you either have the wrong TEXT or DIMSTYLE settings at play, hard to tell from just your post.
