How to convert 3-D into 2-D in Autocad Mechanical 2012?

Good morning, I have this drawing here of a 3-d relay from allen bradley and need to flatten it into a 2-d drawing for my electrical schematic. I've searched online and found the "Flatten" and "Flatshot" commands, but after applying the commands and copying and pasting the relay into a different drawing file, it keeps turning it sideways and only shows a vertical line (see jpeg attached titled 'wrong way'). 

 

Any help would be appreciated.

It's not a 3d drawing, it has no thickness.

The picture shows the drawing after I applied "Flatten" and "Flatshot" to it. Here is a picture when pasting into a different file without applying the above two commands:

It was drawn with different UCS plane, you have to use 3drotate command and get the plan view corrected before Flatten.

Right, so after rotating correctly, I apply flatten or flatshot (see image 'step 1', this one is flatten only). Then I Ctrl + shift + c and paste into another file, but it does not appear correctly (see image 'step 2'). Where did I go wrong and what can I do to fix this?

Check both drawing by using UCS command, W for world then type in Plan, use Current.

Copy then paste your part from one to other.

I magically got it to work by first flattening my relay in the original drawing, then flatshotting. This created the same weird vertical line. I copied the vertical line into my new drawing and finally got the original relay into a 2-D image.

 

So "flatten" and "flatshot" were the only necessary commands for this solution.
