I have a solid hatch with 35% transparency. But on the pdf there's nothing there. I've done it countless times with no problems and for some reason it just started doing it today. i think a setting may of changed by mistake. problem is I have no idea what changed. any help would be greatly appreciated. let me know if I need to explain more.

Thanks

Hi @brian_hicks

I don't know HOW you made your hatch with 35% transparency (you didn't explain how) so this answer may, or may not, apply.

Do not set transparency in the Properties Palette. When your hatch is selected make sure the Properties Palette displays ByLayer. Don't set the transparency on the contextual Hatch Ribbon either, leave the contextual hatch value at the default of 0. If you don't use the Ribbon to hatch and use the 'old school' Hatch Dialog window instead, make sure the  transparency in this old school window displays ByLayer.

When you create hatch, put it on a dedicated layer. No other entity should reside on this layer. To make this hatch 35% transparent, go to the Layer Properties Manager and set it under the Transparency column.

Use the Layer Prop Mgr to make 35% transparency for your hatch.Use the Layer Prop Mgr to make 35% transparency for your hatch.

i meant to include all the steps i tried. sorry about that. usually i just set it in the hatch properties ribbon. which has worked every time. but since it messed up on friday. i tried setting the layer transparency, VP transparency for the layer, even made a new layer and tried both. it's weird because it shows up correctly in AutoCAD but not at all in the PDF. i've also tried printing to PDF different ways.

Hi @brian_hicks

Would it possible for you to share your Plot Window so the plot settings can be evaluated.

In the Properties Palette make the Transparency=>ByLayer........

1.1. Properties Palette=ByLayer. Transparency is 35 in the Layer Prop Manager.1. Properties Palette=ByLayer. Transparency is 35 in the Layer Prop Manager.

......then in Layer Properties Manager make the Layer Transparency =>35.

2. The PDF output looks like this.2. The PDF output looks like this.

still doesn't show up on the PDF. I tried a raster image, text, & a line with transparency to see if it would be blank also, but they all show up. so it seems to just be a hatch issue.

Hello

I've created the solid hatch in it's layer, then set the transparency to 50; in layer management, but unfortunately the PDF plot becomes Black.

I also changed the transparency, the layer made current, the AutoCAD version (2022,2024), the hatch pattern, ..... but none of them helped to fix the problem.

I am desperate already, and I have to submit my project for construction by tomorrow.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi @Serjhik_Hartounijahanian

Your issue could be a number of things, e.g.....

Your Plot style table (pen assignments) OR whether you've checked the Plot transparency box101.png

You should also check your hatch in the Properties Palette.

Select the hatch then go to Properties Palette=>Transparency=>ByLayer

Hello

The problem was No.2 above, which I've forgotten about it to check.

Thank a lot.

I had a very similar issue.  After checking plot transparency in the PLOT settings and changing the layer transparency through the Layer Properties, my transparent hatch still would not print in the PDF; however, it did show up correctly in the AutoCAD plot preview. The issue was resolved when I split up the large hatch into smaller hatch regions. For some reason AutoCAD seems to have trouble rasterizing a large hatch area that is transparent. Dividing the area into smaller hatches might resolve the issue.
