Regenerating Features

Hello all,

When modifying/moving random items on the map...for instance moving a label, or changing an attribute of a device, the software tries to, at random times, regenerate features which in some cases takes a really long time and cranks my disk active time to 100%...please see images.

Is there a way to disable the regeneration of features through the rules? Mind you this has been an "issue" way back since 2007.

I've not seen this specific issue before - however issues like this are often linked to the Cache files getting overloaded. If you have not tried this yet - go to MAPOPTIONS - SYSTEM TAB and use the Clear Cache button. Hopefully that will help.

Hi Warren,

Thanks for responding. I do clear the cache often, however it does not make a difference in performance for us.

I did however go out and buy a solid state drive, which definitely helped the issue! The feature regeneration is faster by ten fold, but I do still seem to get lag during panning after doing a number of edits in the GIS.

Cheers

SSD's are definitely the way to go! I have seen performance issues when connected to an ESRI datastore and several edits. Do you continue to see a problem after you check in your edits?

Once it's lagging, I have a tendency to check-in the features and then refresh features. Unfortunately it doesn't help most times.
