Hi @Fleww,
In the MAPIMPORT dialogue box under "Drawing Layer" you can choose to "Use data field for layer name:"

To separate by layers, you can follow this example::

  1. I have a shapefile named Trans_RoadSegment_NTDNOFS. I want to separate by street name. The street name attribute is FULL_STREE. See image-1.
  2.  In the Drawing Layer column of the MAPIMPORT command, click the ellipsis (button with three dots). Check Use data field for layer name then select FULL_STREE from the dropdown menu. Click OK twice. See image-2.
  3.  The street line work from the shapefile is imported. The streets are listed by their name in the Layers Properties Manager and each indidvual street is on its own individual layer. See image-3.
