Data Shortcut from Map 3D

Hi All

I have created surfaces with contours using Civil 3D and now would like to display the contours, and if possible extract elevation values from that surface from a Map 3D drawing.

Is this possible?

If so how do I do it?

Chris

So are you working in Map or in Civil 3D?
If you have a C3D surface in C3D, then you just need to change the current style to one that displays the contours.
Are you wanting to extract a certain contour (i.e.: the 108.4 contour)? If so, check out this article: http://cadpanacea.com/wp/?p=1318

Thanks for the prompt response.

I work interchangeably between Civil 3D and Map 3D. The surface was generated using Civil 3D and I now need to access its information from a drawing in Map 3D

The work around is to open the Map drawing in Civil 3D, create the links to the surfaces, then close the Civil 3D session and the open the drawing in Map.

The contours then display but "Properties" shows then to be an object called an AECC_TIN_SURFACE on layer 0 although the contour lines are on layers C-TOPO-MAJR-N and C-TOPO-MINR-N

Map can not edit/read any of the data to Civil objects like the surfaces, only view the graphics. You can try to export the surface to SQL format and import/data connect in Map3D  but then you may lose some data.

Hello

Have you tried to Install the Civil 3D Object Enabler on your Map 3D ?
