Capture Image function seemingly not working.

I am quite new to the software, took training for it 6 months ago but only got all my data collected this summer.

Presently I'm trying to print/plot a small sample of the data. Namely I'm printing off my hydrant list and I'd like to leave the online map with road names in the printed document. The problem is I click capture area and try every which way to make that work but it doesn't seem to do anything.

I click capture area, and I get the rectangle but whats the next step? every reference I have found seems to suggest once you click capture area that when you click plot and print it off the captured map area should be there but that's not the case.

I go to plot and the plotted document ( whether using my printer or adobe) has my points, and their label, but not the map underneath.

Any idea what I'm missing?

Hi Matthew,

I just wanted to check in and see if you still needed help with this?  Are you still having issues viewing the captured area?

If so, I just want to confirm that you can initially see the imagery from Bing and it's only when you go to plot nothing shows up?  Once you create the Capture do you see what's in the attached image?

Is it possible you're creating the capture from a layer that's set to not plot?  Check what layer the Capture is on, then check in your layer properties.

So I've moved a couple steps forward and a step back or so. I've been able to successfully capture an area and its now viewable when I go to plot. I realized I had missed a step in the assigning of a georeference system. I also put the captured image on its own layer so as to make sure it all viewable.

draw order has become the problem though, now when I go to plot, the captured area is in the plot, so is one of my connected data files (my parcel outlines) but my connected hydrant points now are being set underneath the captured image so they aren't seen except as single pixel points on the plotted document.

Hey Matthew,

I'm glad to hear you made progress on that!

For the draw order try clicking on the captured area, Right Click - Draw Order - Send to back.

Also, from the Display Manager in the Task Pane click on Draw Order and send your hydrants up towards the top.

Hope this helps.

I've both of those, neither seems to work. I've been able to create a mapbook with my parcels and hydrant layers together and print those off. When I go to plot the 3 layers (hydrants, parcels and capture) the parcel and capture are displayed.
