After Joining Excel Spreadsheet to Shapefile - Question

So I've attempted and successfully joined a spreadsheet to some shapefiles via a unique ID field in both. I'm dealing with parcels and used data connect to shapefiles. This forum has been super helpful with that process, so thanks!

Question is, how do I now export this to a new shapefile with the newly joined fields included?

... or is there simply a way to "save" or "update" the shapefile I have in the data connect, with the newly joined data?

My client wants a shapefile with the new data from the spreadsheet included in the attribute data.

I hope this makes sense! Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

What's the feature class of your shapefile with the 'joined' data? Points, lines or polygons?

OK, Understood. Yes, it can be done.

You have an existing shapefile in your drawing and you have joined spreadsheet data using a KEY FIELD. Although the joined data is visible while in table view it is grayed out and can't be edited. Correct?

Now you want to create, or export, the JOINED DATA to a new shapefile. You can do it but Map3D makes you jump through a hoop to do it. Don't worry, it's a big hoop and requires only a small jump.

Here's the workflow.

You have created a new SDF after've completed the step shown above.

Next, you'll use MAPIMPORT to import that newly created SDF. Open a brand new new drawing and assign your coordinate system. The image below outlines how to perform MapImport.

Finally, you'll need to use MAPEXPORT command to export the parcels (the linework you just imported) to a brand new SHAPEFILE. To perform MapExport you can watch  this >>VIDEO<<. Pay special attention to the video when it gets to the Data Tab portion of the procedure. The Data Tab part captures the parcel's object data and uses that data to populate the shapefile's database (dbf). If you fail to capture the data as shown in the video, then your shapefile's dbf will be NULL.
