additions for Object Data

As a task manager, I created for myself such additions for Object Data:
 - OD management
    - Copy definitions from file
    - usage stats
    - Rename columns
    - Reorder fields
    - Update definitions
    - Batch update definitions
    - Remove unused
 - Search OD
    - Find entities with no OD
    - Find entities with OD
    - Find entities with duplicate OD
    - Find entities with multiple OD
    - Find entities with no specific OD
    - Find entities with specific OD
    - Find entities with specific OD values
 - Attach/Detach OD
    - Attach/detach
    - Detach all
    - Detach specified
    - Detach duplicate
 - Copy OD
    - Copy OD from reference
    - Copy values from reference
    - Copy properties/OD from reference
    - Copy properties/OD values from reference
 - Set/edit OD values
    - Set values from XYZ
    - Set values from geometric properties
    - Set values from text
    - Create IDs
    - Replace values
    - Values from field in field
 - Modify entities
    - Convert to 2D polylines
    - Convert to 3D polylines
    - Break
 - Import /export
    - Export to mif/mid
    - Batch  export to mif/mid
    - Export to csv
    - Import from csv
 - - OD table

A small example recently posted on the forum: statistics about OD, viewing OD in the table, finding elements without the specified OD, attaching these elements to the required OD.

This list corresponds to the wishes and ideas from this forum: MAP New features - 01 - Improvments on Object Data, http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-map-3d-general/object-data-how-to-use-the-find-command/td-p/54... etc.

But the list is longer. The necessity of these possibilities is confirmed by daily use - they greatly accelerate, simplify and improve the work.

What other advanced features of working with Object Data may be needed?
For example, add a drawing with the Object Data on the sample of the specified existing object.  Import/export in kml/kmz, geojson. What else?

The resulting plugin could be a prototype for Autodesk add-ons for Object Data.
We could gather such additions to the forum participants, and offer as a general idea from many experienced users.

Ok, Tink. Smiley Happy

Yesterday, the working version of ODEDIT was published on the App Store: https://apps.autodesk.com/CIV3D/en/Detail/Index?id=6058493316603791142&appLang=en&os=Win64
There are no additions in it, only minor errors have been fixed.

In the free version of ODEDIT there is yet no ODEDIT_RENAME_COLUMNS - rename fields to OD and ODEDIT_FIELD_REORDER - reorder fields.

But you can rename the fields, as well as rename the OD itself, as well as rename the values in the fields with ODEDIT_TRANSLATE. For this you need to create text matches files.

You can also use ODEDIT_TRANSLATE to translate all data into another language. For example, to work with OD in Spanish, and to transfer data to the customer in English. Or in Chinese. Etc.

You can reorder fields using MAPEXPORT & MAPIMPORT. For example in MIF/MID. MIF/MID files are text files, MID files are actually CSV.

Hi, is it possible to control/override the color of the closed polyline by OD value for example: yes - red, no - green color in OD table? I dont want to use shp for this operation.

Hi,

I did not quite understand the question. Maybe you will give an example?

It is possible that the ODCLASS capabilities would be useful for this — user create a description file for its work in which colors, closed/non-closed, etc., of the desired graphic properties can be defined.

For example, I have a inventory of greenery that contains 10k objects - only closed polylines on one layer. Each one of the polyline represent group of trees and has attached OD: tree names, height, diameter etc. I need to change some of these polylines to red color (cutting down group of trees) if they are in a collision with a road project. Is it possible to change the color of polyline according to the OD values: cutting the group of trees set value: yes (red polyline representation), the group of trees not cut value: no (green polyline representation). Just the change in value changes color.

Understood so that you want to change color or other graphical properties by changing the values in the OD field?
I think that you need to submit your question to a new topic or to a similar one that already exists.
So you will be advised more and better.
It is possible that this is solved by means of styles in Display Manager - tool Map 3D.

generally, yes, I want to be able to control graphical properties from the OD level of the value in the table OD to speed up and automate the work a bit. shp files as map features did not work because of the performance due to the large number of objects on multiple layers

In vain you did not create a new topic or did not write in any similar already existing topic.
I do not practice such tasks. Others can help better.
I think you need to search for "Display Manager", "style" and "theme".

Hi, I can't copy and paste to excel and vice versa as in the video at the link from 2:44 do you have any suggestions on how to solve this problem? I work at Civil3D2020. Is this option available only in the full version of ODEDIT or Map3D? How to buy full ODEDIT by the way? 🙂

Hi,

Yes, the copy option in the free version is not available.
Unfortunately, the commercial version still does not exist.

Perhaps you are satisfied the ability to unload data to csv - ODEDIT_EXPL, Explication?

Yes, I'm using explication to export data to Excel and this is a great feature. The problem is that this function changes the order of the columns when importing data to the excel sheet, I have to sort them out manually.

The most useful feature would be for me to be able to paste values into many cells into the OD table at the same time as in the video. I hope that one day the full version of your plugin will appear:-)

Yes, with ODEDIT_EXPL, columns (OD fields) are arranged alphabetically. And the key column at the beginning.
This is due to the fact that, in the general case, several OD tables are unloaded, and they may contain fields of the same name.
And according to the values from the key column, grouping and calculations are performed.
When I advised Explication, I hoped that it was immaterial. 😀

So far, the development of ODEDIT and ODCLASS has been suspended...

Alternatively, you can use MAPEXPORT in mif/mid (csv) and the creation of Report (txt) of Map 3D itself.

I would agree, these Alexander additions are great in Autodesk medium. I hope that at least Alexander got candy from Autodesk 🙂

What data conversions do you have to do in Excel?
Maybe I will advise something from ODEDIT. Or try to take into account in the future.

... from Autodesk

Autodesk has been indifferent to Object Data for 15-17 years. And in general, the last 10 years almost completely does not support the technologies necessary for creating plans, maps and schemes for various purposes.
Autodesk is happy that it may not waste resources if tasks are handled by third-party developers. Therefore, Autodesk invites developers to its App Store.

Perhaps the best Autodesk could do for Map, Civil, Architecture, MEP, and for basic AutoCAD is to create for Object Data, Property Sets, Xdata, and Xrecord converter for each other. Or add Object Data or Property Sets to the underlying AutoCAD.
This could create a “common language” for sharing descriptive data for everyone.

Since I haven't followed what's new in terms of object data for 15-17 years, but if that's true, then it would be very interesting to hear first hand the official position of Autodesk as to why 15-17 year olds are not improving on object data. In the sense of whether Autodesk reads that 15 to 17 year olds do not extend functionality to object data at all is normal and how they would explain it.

Made to ODEDIT and ODCLASS Help in the form of a website. Or a website in the form of Help.

The entire area of the ODEDIT and ODCLASS windows is clickable.

http://odclass-odedit.com
This is my first experience, and therefore I consider the help-site my know-how.  🙂

I hope it will be more convenient to use OD with the help-site.

In Internet Explorer can work very poorly - may not display help, do not download, do not show articles.
