You might need to repair reinstall LT2017 if this reset does not help fix the problem https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to...

Hi,

Usually when you enter EXTERNALREFERENCES command the External References palette is displayed and then If you enter -xref at the Command prompt, options are displayed.

If this is not your case may you should reset you CUI as suggested.

I'm just checking in to see if you need more help with this. Did the suggestions that @pendean and @Anonymous provided work for you?

If not, you may want to try the suggestions in this article: Palettes will not display in AutoCAD

Guys please accept my sincere apologies for not responding sooner, I only got to try this yesterday, I was out and around and not on. The solution that Pandean suggested worked and I am now back to normal. Thank you so much.

I had same problem and FIXED IT.  I had dual displays and the xref manager window must of been somewhere outside what i could se eon my screen.  IF you update display settings to be one window, then "restore down" autocad (vs being full screen). then type "close external reference".  then type "external reference" it may pop-up for you.

Because you have two different resolutions display on Dual Monitor. Quick step to drag entire Autocad to another monitor, then Xref again. External reference manager will show up again.

I did something similar, I just stopped extending my display to the second screen and voila, the xref manager came back to the main display.

I try to save my workspace settings as often as I make changes that I like, so I can always revert back to a configuration of things like the locations of these dialog boxes that where I know I can find them. Ultimately a two screens with the same aspect ratio and size would be good too.
