What is the best way to bind image into a file?

Hi all,

I need to bind a image (JPEG) into a file but it doesn't seem to work anymore.

I used to add as XRef and simply bind it, which worked fine. But with 2022 version the option is not longer there, at least not in the same place.

I tried INSERTOBJ and OLE  object. The image inserts fine, but once I close the file and open it again the image disappears, when recovering the file it shows that there was an error but the image is still missing.

What should I do to make it work? Am I missing a step?

thanks

IMAGEATTACH. And make sure the image is in the same directory as the drawing. That way if someone accidently deletes the "path" to the image it will still load up as the first place that AutoCAD looks for images is in the same directory as the drawing

Hi,

sorry but

>>"I used to add as XRef and simply bind it, which worked fine"

was never the case, you are wrong.

Memory is a leprechaun

The best way to bind an inamge is NOT to bind an image

the second and only way to bind an image to create an OLE object.

thanks for the replies,

I would like the image to be embedded in the file.

I tried OLE objects. Every time I reopen the file the image disappears, Do I have to do something after inserting the image?

Can you post a screenshot of your problem.

Also at the command line type IMAGE and then post a screenshot of the dialog box that pops up as well.

Please start a new drawing, based on ACADLT.dwt or ACADLTISO.dwt,

insert your OLE into the MODEL tab.

Saveas dwg2018 to a local folder

close & Reopen the file

Still the same issue?

Hi,

I tried it, this time the file opened straight away without any errors but still no image.

I can see the image in the preview before I open it, so it is definitely saving the image in the file.

There has NEVER been an AutoCAD/LT year version that bound images the same way you bind XREFs.
You can still bind XREFs in R2022.

To "bind" an image you do this https://www.cadlinecommunity.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/360016935937-AutoCAD-Tip-Embed-Images-into-Auto...
and from Autodesk https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/simplecontent/content/binding-im...
Or if you prefer Lynn Allen videos https://www.cadalyst.com/management/embed-image-file-autocad-25061

Hello I imagine you've sorted this out now but I had the same issue till I scaled down the image to less than 1.3mb (preferably less than 1mb)...

The prescribed file size requirement is mentioned here https://www.cadlinecommunity.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/360016935937-AutoCAD-Tip-Embed-Images-into-Auto...
