Three strange performance observations LT Version 2022: trim lasso, copying blocks and hatches into another DWG file, mouse requires 2-3 inputs before a command is recognized

I apologize for including three separate complaints in one thread; I simply wonder of they are connected somehow. The observations began after installing LT version 2021 and continue

• Trim lasso - in most cases, when I draw a lasso around a number of elements to be trimmed, the lasso remains for 3-6 seconds before the trim is completed, longer if I have lassoed more objects.
• With two files open, copying one file into another causes a 3-6 second delay, more if a hatch is in the copy field
• It takes 2-3 clicks from a wired mouse to initiate a command.  This observation seems to be isolated to the entire 'Modify' menu, saving and attempting to close AutoCAD.

I am awaiting a new computer, but if this helps:

post says LT2021
Which is it?
Is it, or are both, fully patched and updates? ABOUT command will confirm, if it only lists 2021 or 2022 then you have no updates installed. Get them now.

Where do you store files? How are you inked to that source?

You store your project files in a temp folder in your Windows login? Really?

I can only add, that for most of my life all of my drawings were produced by hand, and I was quite gifted - not my words, with drawing and graphics.  I taught myself to use AutoCAD and few additional 3D programs, and as the owner, designer, sales guy and bill collector, I never devoted time to know what I didn't know.   Hence, your comment about where files are stored is not shocking to me...but I did not select this location as I thought they were being saved to documents, which is where I retrieve my files from.  Where should they be stored?

This must be frustrating for you to read; you've been very helpful to me over these past 5-6 years.  Perhaps I should attempt to find an IT person with great AutoCAD knowledge...dunno if such a location service exists here but I am quite over my head with many computer operations.

EDIT: when I open my DWG template, I select Save-AS, and in the drop-down menu select Documents for the location, within Documents I have created folders for each client name, and every DWG file is stored in those client folders.  I am not sure that this is correct...once a week the files are backed up to a 2T external hardrive.

@meb58Do you by chance host your files on a cloud service like BOX or OneDrive or DropBox etc.?

...not deliberately...if I open DropBox, there are no DWG files stored in any folders.   I do have a DropBox account but that is primarily for photos that I insert into my drawing layout PSPACE pages.

If it matters, my computer internals are cleaned quite often, in particular, the heat sink and fans.

I may have solved this on my own; I think that I have to managing blocks and Xrefs in a different way. Admittedly, this is a bit over my head at this point.  But as my projects grow, so do my block libraries, and often I will import elements from one file into another...perhaps a file from 5 years ago for example.  I can only imagine that the software being sent on a wild goose chase while trying to extract information. Blocks that are in the block library are also in my view port...very easy to extract...I have likely created doubles.

I created a blank template, purged all blocks, inserted a current drawing that I was struggling with...no apparent problems.  

It's time to pay for some basic lessons!
