Text not displaying properly in AutoCAD 2018

Hi,

I seem to be having a problem on certain drawings with Arial text not displaying correctly (see attached). It happens when working on drawings sent from external sources, but I can't figure out the root cause of it. Has anybody seen anything like this before?

Cheers

Have you checked the font style that's being used?

Have you got a font style set up that works?

If you change their style to yours does the problem go away?

I have the exact same problem, except instead of external sources, it's all our font settings that we're working with. It doesn't seem to change with any kind of font style. Occasionally if I move them, they revert back to normal, but when I open AutoCAD up again, it goes back to being shown like this.

Which Product (yours), command ABOUT..

Is that MTEXT or Multiline-Attributes?

If you upload or send your file incl. all external references (fonts and more) we will fix it.

command: eTransmit

Q: is this an annotative scale issue by chance? Change your CANNOSCALE and find out.
If not...
Turn off LINESMOOTHING and LINEFADING variables in LT2018, does the problem go away?
If not...
Start GRAPHICSCONFIG command and uncheck all the boxes that have check marks on them. Does that help?
If not...
Start GRAPHICSCONFIG command again and turn off hardware acceleration, does that help?

This applies to all text, both Mtext and Multiline. I am not using annotative scale either.

I've tried all of the things you mentioned but does not seem to have an effect. However, changing the font to San_serif_3 fixes it, but all other fonts, like Arial, seem to have this issue.Capture.JPG

A picture is worth a thousand words as the saying goes, unfortunately it doesn't let anyone see any settings or properties that may be the cause of the issue, it could be something to do with your system, but posting an actual dwg would either confirm or rule that possibility out.

Post a DWG file with the problem for you please. Thanks.

Hi,

There is nothing wrong with your posted file

Capture.PNG

What are your Windows display settings, including text scaling?

Is this the only file with the problem, or is it all of your files?

A lot of my files have this problem. My older files do not have any problems.

Would it have anything to do with the fact that I'm using a 4K screen?

I have already posted a screenshot of the phenomenon already in this thread.

For some reason, I think it's somewhere in the settings of the file itself. If I change the all the text to have a width factor of 0.9 instead of 1.0, then the problem goes away. However, if I look at an older file that I own, this problem doesn't exist and the width factor is still 1.0. There is no real difference in the style settings between the two files.

I have no idea why this is happening and how to fix this. It's been incredibly frustrating to deal with all these bugs of AutoCAD that have come up upon getting 2018. This never happened before.

I'm running Civil 3D 2018 & experiencing this same issue when the file is e-transmitted.  The original CAD file looks great, but the Arial text in files I want to send to a client look exactly like the OP's attachment.

Your file recipient has a font substitution taking place if you yourself cannot replicate the issue from the etransmit's ZIP file.

otherwise post the etranmit file here for all of us to replicate the problem (or try).

TIA

As you can see there was no solution to the original issue. Your drawing looks fine when I open it.

I would suggest that you start your own thread so as not to confuse your isse with any of the other users posting with similar problems in this thread. Plus, you will have the benefit of marking a solution if someone can figure out what is going on with your computer settings.

Also, it would help to post a screen shot of what you are seeing because the file settings seem to be just fine.
