Hatch seems to be the problem

Hi there,

I use ACAD Lt 2019. I have created a drawing with 3 or 4 hatch (dots) patterns in it. It's not particularly big (300kb)

I save it down to 2004 version (this is for my client's benefit) The drawing was purged prior to saving down.

When they try to open it on their machine that has an old ACAD 2006 version, it won't open.

If I remove the hatch patterns prior to saving it, the older version opens the drawing fine.

Is there a setting I've overlooked?

Any ideas why? thanks in advance.

Hi,

if you change the pattern to anything else than DOTS, does it then work?

What happens on your system when you open the 2004-file, does the hatch show up?

>> it won't open

What message do you get?

Weve tried with a soliad and dashed pattern. Same thing happens.

What happens on your system when you open the 2004-file, does the hatch show up?

The dwg opens fine on 2019 but wont open on 2006

can we know if there is any kind of messages appear when it won't open ?

There are no messgaes. Its non responsive. Ive left it for 10 minutes and nothing happens.

Hi,

Does this other workstation run out of memory?`Just not enough resources?

Can you upload such a dwg so I can try it with one of my older versions of AutoCAD?

Hi,

this drawing was not created with AutoCAD (or at least was sometimes edited with a non Autodesk product).

Next issue could be that you have set transparency values ... you know that AutoCAD 2004 does not support transparency?

Ignore the first attachment. This attachment is the correct one.

Yes, it was created by a NON-Autodesk product, but that hasn't ever given me problems before. I didn't know about the transparency issue. I'll try altering that and see if it works.

Hi,

Same file again, no difference, same message about not trusted DWG-format.

BTW: I tried Autodesk LandDevelopment Desktop 2004 (which is based on AutoCAD 2004) ... the drawing opened well.

So it might be more an issue of the 2006 installation or the system itself (not enough resources).

Instead of saving as an older version, export it to see if that makes a difference.

Any good reason you are not using this tool to knock your files down properly to 2004dwg format

I guess not. Is this a different type of save/convert, as opposed to, save as and changing the save as to older versions in the pull down menu?

It actually converts newer objects/features to be compatible with older versions. Saving as an older version does not.
