.SHX fonts not available

I have the ARCHD.SHX, ARCHF.SHX, ARCHS.SHX, ARCHT.SHX and several other .SHX fonts in my LT 2017 font folder, however, I don't see them as font choices when placing text. Am I missing something?

If you received the drawing from someone else and they did not use eTransmit, this is a common issue. Run the STYLE command and select the textstyle in question. Now look at the Font Name selection. Is there a yellow shield near the font name as shown below? If so, you are missing that font!

MTEXT or any command that uses text. The text editor has a drop down that shows all available fonts. TTF and shx. However, many fonts in the LT font folder do not appear.ac_fonts.JPGac_fonts2.JPG

HI @CalypsoArt,

 

It sounds like you have placed these fonts in your default SHX location. Have you tried adding them to a new folder and adding that folder to your support path?

 

If you like, you can zip the fonts and attach them to a post so I can see if I can duplicate this behavior. Sometimes, if a font is corrupt, then it also won't show up.

I tried as you suggested. Made a folder of all the .shx fonts that don't appear and added the path. Restarted AC and still no go. I've attached the zip file.

Hi @CalypsoArt,

 

I am looking at the font files you are trying to use and the file size is only 1 or 2K. Without grabbing a utility to examine them I would say they are damaged and contain little if any information.

 

Is it possible to obtain new copies?

I don't remember because it was a while back, but I believe I got some of them from here. https://www.cadcorner.ca/textstyles.php

 

I tried one and it did not work. Perhaps the fonts are corrupted.

MTEXT, what your screenshot is from, only uses TTF fonts. AutoCAD includes TTF versions of all their core SHX fonts for this very reason. It's been like that forever.

STYLE command is where you would set up a text style to use in all of your text versions: your SHX should be displayed when not in the MTEXT editor.

The Font Name dropdown in the STYLE command, and the dropdown in MTEXT, show the same available shx and .ttf fonts.

Then you placed the fonts in the wrong folder for your LT to find on it's own, or they are damaged SHX fonts.

Restart LT2017, confirm the problem still exists in STYLE command, start OPTIONS command, click on the FILES tab, expand the section SUPPORT FILE SEARCH PATH, find the fonts folder listed in there, open that exact location and confirm your SHX files are there. Do not have them in a separate folder inside that location, that doesn't work.

If all looks good, you need to zip and share those SHX fonts that you have here for others to test and examine.
