Setting an imported image as a background layer?

Good morning everyone. I'm working with imported image to do quick sketches off of but I'm running into a bit of trouble. I'm able to import the image and get it scaled correctly even if the process is a bit cumbersome, but when I go to draw anything it hides behind the image and I have to turn the image off in order to see what I've drawn. I tried changing the draw order, and the layer but that didn't seem to do anything.

So somehow I was able to get it to work the way I want, but I don't know how to repeat the process...

One thing you can try is to select the image and in properties set the transparency to 50.

Did you try REGENALL command to fix the draworder setting?

Thanks for writing, is draworderctl and whipthread in a properties window somewhere? When I type these out as commands I get "<3>" for draworderctl, and whipthread doesn't even show up as an available command.

I didn't even touch the hardware acceleration settings when I somehow got it to work how I wanted so I think I will leave that setting alone.

Whipthread is ok.

"so I think I will leave that setting alone."
And I think I will leave you and your problem alone.

REGENMODE checked? If available

Do you draw in Modelspace or Layout?
Layout: Check "Plot Paperspace last"

Thanks for the responses everyone, I worked with changing the draw order a bit more and that seems to be what I needed. Looks like some I just needed to take an extra step to get the desired outcome.
