Just for a laugh.

AutoCAD has been closed for more than half an hour, pop-up window still doing it's little dance.

Sometimes it doesn't stop until I restart my system, how annoying is that?

@hgaitang AUTOPUBLISH is not PUBLISH command: do you really need that? Turn it off unless it is a dire business your bosses insist on using to track your work, the need to get random PDF outputs every time you close a file is kind of superfluous otherwise.

AND... Consider manual saving often and regularly. Your BAK file being current is very important.

Do you still have background publishing turned on?

Did you work with your IT folks to test a new log-in into WindowsOS to see if the problem goes away or not?

Hello @pendean .

Yes, I do need AUTOPUBLISH on, prompt on close, and it happens that the boss that requires constant updates is myself, not because I want to get random PDFs every time I close a file but because I work within a fast paced workflow with dynamic information that I need to process and serve to other members of the team who are not CAD users: Stage Managers, Choreographers, other Technicians, Producers, Creatives, and so. I have even set a routine for the PDFs in my CAD project to get copied across another folder to which all the staff has access to, this autocopy happens every hour. This is how dynamic is the information I deal with.

AUTOPUBLISH is a very helpful tool for me, far from superfluous. One of the features I believe make AutoCAD the leading software it has been for decades is it's ability to get customized accordingly to diferent user/workflow needs. Deactivating a feature or modifying my workflow because this feature is being problematic is less than a solution.

I save manually constantly, do work with loads of Xrefs, so need to. Not quite sure what you mean about BAK file being current though.

Turned off background publishing.

Also turned off AUTOPUBLISH, no changes.

Other people, on this thread and in other forums have clearly stated that the problem persist regardless if activating/deactivating the autopublish.

I am sure this is a bug, is not the only forum I have found about this. None of them accepting the fact that potentially AutoCAD has a bug, all of them commenting about the need for users to change their settings instead. And I cannot be sure but I do strongly believe that it is related to the BLOCK INSERT Manager, the pop-ups appear only if I open it, and once open they will not stop appearing even if I close AutoCAD, please see attached: AutoCAD has been shut for at least a couple of hours, the windows still popping (wih the annoying bleep it comes with, of course. I cannot even listen to music when working in AutoCAD?). It will not stop until I restart Windows.

About contacting the IT folks, I also fail to understand why should I need to do tests in WindowsOS to try to fix an AutoCAD issue. Say I log in with other credentials and the pop-ups stop, that would mean now I have to log with these other credentials so AutoCAD operates properly?

I hope I made sense.

Looking forward to an AutoCAD update to fix this issue.

H.

Hi,

i am in holidays, so i can not work on this thread like i would do for usual.

(Perhaps in some days or weeks)

Just some comments.

>>"I have the same issue"

If my explanation (above) doesn't fit to your problem, it looks like your issue is near to it, but not the same.

<Needs to much time now, to ask you the important questions>

>>"What I believe is that all those previews of blocks somehow generate a dwg instance when being displayed and when these instances are eliminated AutoCAD behaves as if it was closing a file and thus prompting the Auto Plot dialogue window."

No, previews are simple picture files you can find as waste in a subfolder of your block-dwg folder.

>>"I hope Autodesk developers are already aware of this bug and come with a solution soon, "

You have to start a bug report or support case (please use email support case).

Just writing in forums is useless in this point.

>>"I find interesting how it is very common that the first answers to threads are on the “it must be something you are doing” vibe."

Would it be not the case, it would be impossible to help (and solve) a big part of threads (or support cases).

Trust me, so many people thoughts it must be a software bug, that they are become unable to listen and test.

AND just in 0.01% (?) it is really a (new) bug!

So it isn't useful to start with "perhaps it is a bug, but it could be the usual behavior"

Because this would be fit to EVERY post (lol)

and 99,99% it is the wrong way, just for 0.01% it is the right one.

But you know it at the end, not at beginning of a thread.

>>" hope this throws some more light on the issue."

Please read the post again, i can not see any word about the block palette,

so it looks like you are talking about another situation.

(with the same symptom)

Q1: You missed to tell us your product version(or? sorry, i am working on a small mobile).

Please share a screenshot of your ABOUT dialog, thx)

Without testing, i guess you found a bug, but i am sure you didn't found all pieces of the problem.

<find the simplest situation from scratch to replicate the problem and let me know>

*PM for you

Sebastian

I support multiple offices and no users are seeing anything like you do: so I suspect something is missing at some level somewhere.

It is now time for you to stop wasting your time in these forums then and start a support ticket with Autodesk, do it now, here is how https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/account-management/users-software/support-options#:~....

I'd be interested in finding out what the culprit actually is when everyone at your end finds out.

I picked up a case about this through Directly, and think it could be a bug. I've got the user trying out the -CLASSICINSERT method you described, but if it doesn't work, we'll get it escalated to Autodesk and reported as a bug.

We've been through the host of AutoPublish settings, flipping between the save and close options, but still get the random popup.

thanks - db

Hello @Anonymous ,

thanks for bringing up this observation. This will be transferred to our development team.

They will investigate this feature in order to determine the cause for this behavior. Please be aware that I don't have the possibility to give you an estimate on how or when this might be adjusted.

at all and@johann.model

My statement above "With 2021.0.0 it is never problem." was wrong,

also in 2021.0.0 you can reproduce the problems of 'prompt by save' option.

It seems that a solution was implemented in the AutoCAD 2022 release.

Confirmed. Fixed in 2022 and still fixed in 2022.1 😊
