Paperspace viewport in the model space?

Hi,

I create engineering submittals with multiple layouts. Each layout is considered 1 page of the submittal. So a 75 page submittal will have 75 layout tabs. The model space drawing is formatted to have all of our pages arranged in a 10x10 array. There is a templated drawing we keep using when making new submittals where each layout tab has a viewport on one specific page. This process has worked for us since our submittals rarely go over 100 pages, so adding/deleting pages in the model space does not affect the paper space layouts. When a submittal is finished, we use PUBLISH command to create a pdf of all the layouts.

My issue is this. On some pages of our submittal, we need to add a scaled drawing of our controls panel. We keep it scaled since we need to account for fitting components and hardware inside of it.

These layouts are not on any of the pages in the model space. It is outside of the 10x10 array.

What we do is use viewports in the paperspace to zoom in on these panel layouts. This keeps the dimensions of the panel layout consistent. Once we put these viewports on the specified layout tab, the viewport stays there. The issue is that when we need to add a new page or delete a page, all of the viewports need to be rearranged back to its respective location. This is tedious as sometimes we need to do this every time for every panel  when a new page is needed.

Is there some way to add a zoomed in view of the panel layout on the model space itself?

Any help is appreciated.

Have you considered adopting SSM (SheetSet Manager) for all of your project layouts organizing, placement, naming and publishing needs (and so much more)? Your current method is sort of 20+years old and with 75 layouts it has to be a nightmare to manage.
