Offset Not consistant

I am admittedly very green on AutoCAD. I'm using LT 2019, and when I try to offset, I'm able to set the distance, I click on the line to offset, then move the mouse to the side I want the offset to go, and sometimes, even though it shows the new line appearing on that correct side, when I click to commit the action, the new line appears on the OTHER side of the original line. This doesn't happen every time, maybe 25%, but when it does, it will consistently put that offset line on the incorrect side. I have had this issue on a couple of computers, so I don't think it's a computer/mouse issue.

Zoom in close, turn off running osnaps, and practice a lot: it will get easier once you build up the muscle memory. And what out for closed or curved PLINEs, they can indeed flip on you if the shape is not conducive to the offset you are trying to force it to create.
