Objects with Z coordinates

I work with AutoCAD 2014LT. I have discovered that some of my lines have Z coordinates. This impacts several commands- fillet, trim, hatching, etc. I haven't set up my work this way. How do I draw with x and y only, without z?

Impossible. If you are using object snaps on an objects with z/=0, you catch X Y AND Z value from this point.
You can use pointfilters (.XY), i am thinking you don't want to do it every time.
The better way: Make sure you don't have objects with z/=0, so you can't catch coordinates from points z/=0.

What I am experiencing is objects (particularly lines) that have z coordinates. I discover this when some commands don’t work, such as trim, fillet, extend and hatch. If I select 2 or more objects and then view their properties I see that they have z coordinates. I have not set up my drawings this way as far as I know.

Jayhar missunderstood in this case, but there was another answer too (and follow nested links too, please)

I am pretty sure your source issue comes from objects WITH z-values and you are using objectsnaps, so you snap z-Values of these points too.

From copy&paste objects, or xrefs, whatever.

Or you had one time insert the wrong coordinate (incl. Z value like 0,0,44), thats possible too.

There is no variable, you always working in a 3D room, in LT too.
